Will Bates play LB or DE?

I was wondering if you think he will play LB or put on some muscle and play DE?

MLB or FB as of now. Could see him playing a little DE although not as a full timer.

Bates projects as a middle linebacker and he is already drawing comparisons to current LSU senior linebacker Jacob Cutrera minus an inch or two in height.
"I told coach Miles that I would play anywhere and just whatever I could do for the team," Bates said. "Hopefully I will get a shot at linebacker.

Yeah as of next year we will have a pretty solid soph and fresh FB... i think we are alright right there

It sounds as if they are taking him as an "athlete". I hope he will be big enough to rush from DE on third downs, bc he is good at that. Right now, Montgomery, Maclin, and Mingo are the only 3rd down DE types we have that are faster than him. And he's more proven as a pass rusher than Mingo is.
