Just curious what experiences the board has had in Ft. Walton.. I see a lot of upper end places being recommended for Destin. I don't want to have to go to a nice place when I'm on vacation. I don't plan on putting shoes on (other than flip flops) the entire weekend.

Not in fort walton but just east of San Destin.. 98 BBQ is pretty damn good.

I should also mention that my lady doesn't eat animal products. This is always a problem.

Harbor Dock in Destin is very casual, but good food.

Don't remember the name of the place but it's almost under the bridge on the Ft. Walton side, right on the water. Good seafood and defintely casual.
On the Destin side there is a Irish Pub right as you go over the bridge that has great food and it's casual as well.
Sorry don't recall the names but if you're there I'm sure you could ask someone.

Dewey Destin ? and McGuires Irish pub ?

McGuires is the Irish pub I was thinking of. I thought was pretty good. Not sure if Dewey Destin's is the other one or not. Is Dewey Destin's the one that is not too far from McGuires and kind of a hole in the wall? If so I have not eaten there but I've heard very good things about it just haven't had the chance to try it yet.

Summerhouse is an outstanding restaurant in Ft. Walton and has no dress code. If you go during lunch or before 6pm, you can get a filet, side and a salad for under $12, among other things.
