Best Rice Cooker

My current rice cooker is 13 or so years old, made by Panasonic but it is on it's last leg. I've needed to replace it for at least the past year but now it's time.
I looked at some higher priced Japanese models that are highly rated.

Any suggestions?

I quit using a rice cooker when my old one broke that I had had for about 12 years. I tried 3 different inexpensive ones from places like Target and Walmart, and they all sucked. Black and Decker makes one that I wish I could shove up someone's arse at Black and Decker.
I went back to making it in a Magnalite pot, and I've never looked back.

A rice cooker is one of those items I wouldn't spend big bucks on. Who wants a 30 year old rice cooker for $200? I buy on the cheap for $20 and they last 10-12 years.
The one I have now is a Rival. I think I paid $15 for it at KMart 7 years ago. It works great. Will probably last another 3 years and then I'll throw it away.

I swear by this one. This style has served my family well for generations.

Try a microwave one. My parents use one and have for the last several years and it comes out perfect. Even the bottom doesn't get all overcooked and gunky. Look online because they are hard to find in stores.

after someone showed me this I never went back to doing it on the stove again.
