Even as an Atlanta Hawks fan I would not like this. He'd never get a chance to play with Joe Johnson and Flip Murray.
I want him on the Hornets. Where not only he'd get a chance to play, but maybe even start.

He deserves all the props he can get. Marcus is a workhorse. Any team in the NBA would be fortunate to have him play for them.

They said Johnson is a free agent next year though, hence the potential need for Thornton

I agree, Marcus would be a better asset for the hornets possibly backing up Chris Paul. He definitely is a better fit than Daniels.

The Hawks and Marcus Thornton?: Don't overlook LSU's Marcus Thornton. Marcus has had some stellar workout recently going 20-for-25 from NBA three in Dallas and knocked the socks off the Atlanta Hawks before heading to Chicago for the NBA Pre-Draft Combine. Marcus continues to climb as teams get an up-close look at him and are raving his ability to score the ball. Marcus is a "play right away" player and seems to be making things interesting especially in the 13 to 20 range. Hawks sources agreed that Marcus was exceptional in their workout and consider him a Joe Johnson type scorer. With Johnson expected to explore his free agent options next summer the Hawks may have found their man at #19.
MT5!

Doesn't mean the Hawks will let him (Joe) get away.

On top of that Flip Murray could start in front of Thornton, he's underrated. Hawks are loaded at SG.

He could potentially start at SG for the Hornets. Neither Butler or Peterson are very good.

wow good job by marcus! id love to see him get drafted by the hornets.

If the Hawks do this I'd take it as a sign that they're letting Flip go as a FA this summer, which I really doubt is gonna happen. I think MT is gonna be Flip-like though, as a gunner off the bench for somebody like the Bulls.

Oh, I forgot to add: Marcus Thornton will never make it in the NBA.

As much as I'd love for him to be a Hornet, word is we're selling / dealing the pick.

There is no way you can predict where a player will be drafted

20-25 from NBA 3. DAMN...
Marcus and Brandon Bass are my two favorite players this decade.

Maybe, but whoever takes Marcus Thornton in 1st round is a bigger one.

It would be nice to see him stay in-state, but the Hornets need a slasher, and I don't see Thornton being a slasher in the NBA. Not to mention, with Byron Scott as coach, he won't get much playing time at all. He hates the youngins'.
