I have a dumbass watching the game with me and he is arguing with me..

So if Ole miss wins their regional and Virgina wins the Irvine regional....the host of that super will be Ole Miss right....he is saying since UVA is the ACC tourny champ that they will play in charlottesville...

It would be in oxford will it not? I am trying to tell this arse but he will not believe me

better question is what happens when both hosts of matched up regionals lose?

I'd imagine the higher seed, but if it's a 2 v 2 or something, IDK.

Schools bid on Super Regionals at the same time that the place their bids for the regular Regional. Just because Ole Miss is a #1 in their regional does not mean they will automatically get the Super, however, in this case, it's almost a given that Ole Miss will get the Super.

Ole Miss will host the super regional if we win our regional and UC Irvine loses!

The team with better facilities and can draw more fans will likely host. I imagine that would be Virginia.

That wasn't even enough to get them a #1 seed, It certainly won't have any bearing on a Super Regional host site. If Ole Miss wins, they will host, but if Ole Miss loses....then it will be in VA.

It is left up to the committee to decide.

Right. And they choose money more times than not.

Yea. I don't see all these people saying it will automatically be in Oxford. i imagine that Virgina and Ole Miss put in the same regional/super regional bid package. The committee evaluates both weekends separately.

I'm sure Ole Miss will get it, but it doesn't mean they have to.

Ole Miss will definitely host if they win because they are a #1 seed and Virginia is a #2. The NCAA has never given the host to the lower seeded team if both have made bids. It's the same reason Arkansas will be going to FSU.

The point I made, correctly, was that they don't have to. It's up to their discretion.

I doubt they put in the same bid package. Bid packages include a guaranteed dollar amount to the NCAA. It's all about ticket sales. Ole Miss averages 3 times more fans than Virginia.

Ole Miss will definitely host if they win.

ETA: But I get your point that it isn't automatic.

They both re-submit SR bids to the NCAA.

If the numbers I saw were correct, Ole Miss's regional turn out was second only to LSU's. No way they don't host if they win.
