Is Matulis in the doghouse? Or hurt?

He hasn't pitched since the Saturday Mississippi game. He wasn't used in the SEC tourney when we needed to use almost every pitcher. Did Mainieri even look his way that weekend?
I hope nothing's wrong with him, because I think he has a lot of potential.

He's not on the active roster for the regional.

Exactly. What's wrong with him since he wasn't even looked at for the SEC tourney and isn't on the roster now?

Yeah, but wouldnt he be more valuable than Farnsworth?

I think there are different rules for bullpen catchers in the regular season than the post season. Like he can be the bullpen catcher but not active during the regular season but not post season.

i heard farnsworth is gone after this year.maybe coach wanted to let him be a part of the team this time and at the cws.

There has to be something else going on here. He was pitching pretty well as of late, and Mainieri likes to give guys chances to prove themselves. He would have gotten at least an inning in the SEC tourney to "prove himself" if he wasn't hurt.

Yeah I heard that also. That makes sense.

He's a freshman that showed flashes but hasn't truly turned that corner. When you in the postseason I would go with the veteran over a kid that is still learning. Now on another note Matulis is gonna be a good pitcher but has to learn how to pitch.

I agree with this if Matulis can get his mind right think about this.....Ranaudo (power rightie), Matulis (sick leftie with some pop), and Ross (great control pitcher)....not saying our rotation will shake down that way next year but what if it did

Farnsworth graduated, so him leaving makes sense.

Apparently Matulis had a bad attitude after the tourney so they sent him home and added Farnsworth to the active roster to replace him.

Not a knock, but to think Matulis pitched consistently at all this year is a stretch.

Not sure about Matulis, but I think it was a class act by CPM to insert Farnsworth into the active roster and give him a chance to play. Smart kid and had limited playing time in his career... so why not show that you appreciated his selfless effort day in and day out in the bullpen and at practice. I was glad to see a move like this. As far as Matulis goes, he'll have plenty of future chances as a strong pitcher for the tigers!

I've actually been wondering about this myself...especially after he didn't play in the SEC tourney. But now that ya'll mention it--it does make sense to play the seniors now. Matulis is only a freshman he has time.
