...as a sport?

Every season for the last 5 years has gotten progressively worse to me. I'm starting to regard the NBA as an avenue for entertainment/money first and actual basketball a distant second. It has become this generation's WWF.

For example, deep down many of you KNOW Cleveland will win game 4 because of this.

The NBA is about: Money, ratings, entertainment, storylines, individualism, drama, Kobe "versus" Lebron, bickering teammates, fallen heroes, messianic figures we are meant to "witness", and the "second coming" of another player.

These are all just old cliched Wrestling storylines.

When ESPN posted a poll a couple of weeks ago asking viewers which they preferred, the NBA or the WWE, I simply want to ask now more than ever: Why not a third option: What's the difference?

I quit watching it YEARS ago. Not too long after Jordan retired actually.

I just recently started watching it here and there when the Cavs are on to see Lebron play.

Thanks for the qualifier: Flynn

Feel free to post pictures of JR holding one of those on behalf of LSU to prove your point.

so does that mean that if you put JR on the 2007 LSU team, we do not win the national title?

Considering he CHOSE to leave, I guess that technically means he bailed on the team to pursue his OWN interests.

Therefore, who was better FOR LSU? The guy who stuck it out? Or the guy who bailed?

As a sport? Or as entertainment?

Entertaining? Yes, at least when it is not OBVIOUS games are not being controlled by the players.

As a sport? No way.

Entertainment. Although the last 2 games where they have had over 80 free throws each game is kind of pissing me off.

I stopped watching almost 20 years ago. When guys like Dr. J and Kareem and Magic Johnson retired, I was less than impressed with anybody else in the league (MJ had not yet reached his peak).

you obviously watch the shite nightly or you wouldnt have reason to complain.

so, whatever fix or conspiracy the nba is pulling over the fans, it is apparantly working over your dumbass. you are watching, you are giving the sport publicity, therefore, the nba must be doing something right.

Well, in the 50's the average height of a player was probably 6'1. 60 yrs later it's 6'8. So, in 40 more yrs, when they are 7'7, i will probably stop then. It won't be too exciting to watch people dunk without jumping.

The officiating is just getting out of control it's so bad. Nothing will ever get me to stop watching, but it is getting harder to watch at times.

The NBA is better now than it has been in years. There are plenty of true stars: Lebron, Kobe, CP3, Dwight Howard, etc. Regardless of what some of you may think of tattoos, there are far fewer off the court problems (much less, even per capita, than the NFL). There are some class guys representing the league. The current two conference final series very competitive and fun to watch. And as I understand it, the general revenues and TV ratings are all up. To compare the NBA to a joke like WWE is absurd.

magic v bird is very new

this goes back to the 80s also. this is stern's gameplan, and it worked

drama,

again, this goes back to the 80s. lakers/celts? bad boys vs anyone?

Kobe "versus" Lebron

magic "versus" bird?

i could go on. nothing has changed

you're just throwing a pitty party because you're riding the kobe train, and the kobe train year after year is proving to be a bad choice, post-shaq. now go tell everyone again how flynn was better than JR

fixed.

I don't waste my time... I'll watch the last 5 minutes of a close playoff game, other than that I could care less.
