The closer role in College baseball is way underappreciated. How many times has he come in with 2+ men on and got out of the inning? Now how many other people in our bullpen do you trust to do that? Thats the diofference between a W and an L. I would keep him there.

Not to mention he can go 2innings fora save, but after that I don't know if he has it.

So how do you get to the closer with a lead? A closer cant get you the lead back after the starter puts you in a hole. I still like making my starting rotation as solid as possible and then worry about the pen...both in college and pro. JMHO.

IMO, that has more to do with stamina than ability. You can't expect someone who routinely pitches and inning or two to suddenly have enough stamina to go longer. That's like asking a sprinter to run a long distance race without training or practice.

I think he gets a shot at starting next year.

maybe slightly

college baseball is an offensive game. There are more important aspects to a team.

in the offseason when he is groomed to be a starter, then he wont have any problems going 6 or 7 innings. Thats what he did in HS for like 3 years.

If bullpen was almightily important, Coleman wouldnt be starting now and a guy like Bradford wouldnt have started our most important game of hte year last year.

its easy to find guys to plug into the bullpen. If you dont have weekend starters you dont have a need for the bullpen
