The only difference was that at the very end of the show, they threw in a couple of things to try to "boom" the audience.
Yeah, I felt it was a little anti-climactic and they tried to get too much "boom" out of Nimoy's presence.

Massive Dynamic, the huge "bad guy" company, is now all of a sudden not bad anymore?
That really depends on how all this alternate reality stuff works out. The manifesto suggested that the alternate realities would fight against each other. It looks like Bell's set up is in the "best" reality, so if his plan is to have the best reality win, then he would be the bad guy that Dunham would have to fight against.

I just wish it would stay focused on the premises it started out with
I think it did. Just look at the pattern and how essential it was to the season finale. I took from the map images that the pattern "attacks" were deliberate and specifically located in an effort to create soft spots between the universes.

I do agree with that. I just wish it touched on the initial premise of the show more. I felt like most of the season was filler. Still good shows, just nothing that really tied much together.

100% agree with that. Why is him being Bell such a big deal...because he was on Star Trek? I actually thought it was kind of JJ Abrams pimping his new movie. The fact that Leonard Nimoy is Bell has no impact on the show, so why would they try to make it seem like such a WTF moment..?? Doesn't make any sense to me.

I kind of agree that is the path the show is taking. That being said, it looks like Nimoy will become a cast member for that to take place. I could see Bell turning into a "God" figure trying to manipulate the future. I also believe it will be revealed that Walter's motive the whole time was to create the portal to the alternate reality in order to reunite with his son.
Side note, I wonder how Peter is going to take it when he realizes that the Peter in this reality is actually dead. I really like the path this show is taking. The 1st season really did a good job of setting up the groundwork for the series IMO.
