....but Cecil was in another dimension as far as talent goes...he had the size, speed, break-away ability, toughness....kind of reminded me of Bo Jackson...ran like a run-away truck that defenders were almost afraid to get in the way of....had all the talent to become an All-Pro in the NFL...

jesus christ. Cecil Collins is like some mythological creature where we can just make up shite.

size? no, not really. He was only about 5'8" 205-210. he was not a big back, he a little below average.

Speed? very average. He ran a 4.5 in pre-draft workouts. Faulk was a little faster at 4.48.

break-away ability? he did have a great burst to got to the second level.

toughness? yes, but not the durability.

Collins came out like a cannonball playing with tons of emotion after waiting over a year for his chance and working out/practicing the whole time at LSU leading up to that one chance....but that emotion would have faded, and defenses adjusted. he looked great in his very limited time....but it was ONE FULL GAME!! anyone who thinks defenses would not have adjusted are nuts.

Faulk put up numbers for 4 years as the main focus of the opposing defense....and then grossly out performed the urban legend in the NFL in a YPC basis.

eltigre how can you say that emotion would have faded? Are you a prophet? Mel Kiper? You are totally missing the question. It is a pickup game, not a season.

How about in this pickup game you are the only one left between Collins or Faulk and the goal line. Which one would you rather have to try to tackle?

"Collins has put up a faster time than the 4.41 he had run at the combine, the second-fastest time clocked in Indianapolis. It's also slightly faster than that of most NFL running backs.

Collins 3.2 YPC & Faulk 3.4 YPC as NFL Rookies..

Pretty good article for people who don't know & want to know "What all the Damn Fuss was about" Sports Illustrated 1999:

Actually, it was just over three games.

And if we were playing a four year schedule of "pick-up" games, then it would be a no-brainer. But since the question absolutely excludes the possibility of four year's of performance, it doesn't make much sense to make the choice based on that.
