I've got a friend coming down to New Orleans this weekend for Jazz Fest and he's looking for a Sunday Brunch. He's bringing a new girlfriend with him so he wants it to be nice, but not rediculously expensive. He asked me, but all the ones I suggested to him don't include alcohol (i.e. mimosas) in the brunch price. Any suggestions of a sunday brunch that's not $50+/person and includes alcohol?

Cafe Degas (convenient to Jazzfest), Dante's Kitchen, Surrey's are all reasonably priced brunches. Problem is that they will be packed this weekend. He might be able to make reservations at Cafe Degas if its not already booked.

Some hidden ones are Flaming Torch and Patois...both are great restaurants and may not be booked just yet.

If it doesn't have to be a buffet...the absolute way to go is EAT on the corner of Dauphine and Dumaine. I love this place. Small, quaint and really cool. Great big window for people watching and the food is delicious and VERY reasonable. AND the best part...it's BYOB! So when we go we bring our own vodka and champagne and they bring the mixers to the table...fresh squeezed OJ!

When my hubby and I go for brunch we get out of there with tip for between $35 and $40 and we're never disappointed.

Last time we had the shrimp omelette. OMG good!

We had New year's Eve dinner there...4 course meal for $50 a person and BYOB! And they don't sell Red Bull...which is what our entire group drank so they allowed us to bring in a case of that! So our dinner was truly $50 a person!

I love this place.

Thanks for the suggestions. I will send him a link so he can check out all of your suggestions. I'm thinking the BYOB place is gonna be the one he's gonna go with. I gave him a bottle of Goose the other day so he should be set for bloody mary's.

I've never had a wait at EAT...it appears to still be somewhat of a hidden gem...and you can make reservations.

I agree that the courtyard is absolutely beautiful BUT they don't take reservations and the wait on a non fest weekend is crazy long.
