J.T. Wise has risen to the occasion and is hitting .375 with 12 homers and 36 RBIs.

Some nice stats from the former LSU player.

Weekend Preview

On the other hand some great matchups this weekend for baseball.

I got 3 more...Kellen Bozeman .370 11HR 50 RBI Delta State, T.J. Forrest, Sunday Arkansas starter, and Cody Reine .355 11HR 49 RBI Grayson JC..Makes you wonder how much better we'd be..Particularly, offensively....add JT Wise..wow..what losses...

I still dont see why Reine got let go. I went to a bunch of fall practice and the kid can flat out hit. He was def more impressive than many on the roster

this was all about making room for chad jones on the limited roster..no comparison..Reine is a major prospect..Jones is a great football player trying to play baseball..lots of strikeouts and spotty in the field...

While I'm sure these guys are good ball players, it's hard to show their current stats and say that would be doing that at LSU.

I agree but Bozeman was undoubtably the most dominant multi tooled player at Parkview in recent history and Cody Reine was a legit Louisville all- american..Both are guys that physically will probably play at the next level, somewhere..

I would assume with those JUCO numbers, some 4 year schools would be wanting them in a few years if they don't go pro. Maybe if they go to a big time college, we can see if LSU really did make a mistake

a lot of players had a falling out with Mainieri.

but the guy wanted to mold his team the way he liked. Cant say i totally agree, because as noted in this thread, cut ties one way or another with some very talented players.

I wonder what the real story is behind that. Maybe Smoke was very lazy with the way he handled his players and let them do what they wanted.

And Chad Jones isn't just some athlete, he was drafted in the 13th round of the draft and was batting .355 in the 10 games he played.

The football program was very afraid he was going to go play pro baseball before ever stepping foot on campus.

Attrition happens, you can't keep everyone.
