wishes Matt Clark were still at LSU

There is no one in front of are in back of him to take away from him seeing more pitches to hit this year. With Clark there with him they could not pitch around him so he saw better pitches to hit. Makes a big difference.

Gibbs was behind Dean, not Clark.

I can buy this to a certain extent....but the fact is he is seeing pitches to hit and he is not hitting them. He is hitting weak pop ups almost every time. As soon as he gets his entrance song right he will be back. It takes time to find the right song to bat to.

You are a fool if you think that this encompasses Blake Dean's struggles this year.

This is crap nobody is pitching around this guy,if thats the case he should take more pitches and increase his on-base prctage which is mediocre. He overswings while down in the count and can't hit lefties at all.He will get another chance next year after he's drafted in the 29th round by the royals.

Long swing, cant run or throw, dead pull hitter

Depending on the pitcher that is true. With left handers PM sometimes dropped Clark in the order. But with righties it was Dean third and Clark fourth all season.

BS.
Game 3 of the Super Regoinal. Dean Gibbs Clark went back to back to back in that order against the right hander Stowell.

May have been a reason PM chose to bat them in that order that night. But it was Dean/Clark against righties all season long.
Edit to say. That's how I recall it, could be wrong.

All kinds of research has shown that a guys protection has minimal effect on the type of pitches he sees. Keep in mind that even though we're getting deep into the season, Dean only has 114 abs, which is barely more than a months worth on a major league schedule. It isn't uncommon for guys to slump that long before turning on the switch. Last year, Carlos Pena had 86 abs in April and 110 in May, and put up OPSs of .749 and .737, and then in June, July, August, and September went .958, .871, 1.089, and .897.
ETA: Look at Hanley Ramirez' splits from last year, his May looks an awful lot like the year Dean is having right now.
etaa: And Ryan Howard alternated superb months with terrible ones.

Likewise you are a fool if you think that it has nothing to do with losing a guy that can blast 25-30 homers and give you 75-90 rbi's.....in fact if you think about it and know anything about baseball you would know that it probably has more than you think to do with it.....plus dean was asked to be the guy to replace those numbers and you think that pressure didn't get to him????

WTF do MLB stats have to do with college....I don't see the parallel it a completely different game like you said in MLB they get as many abs in 2 months as the whole college season.....can't compare the stats between the two

The point is baseball is a game where 100 abs isn't really that many. Dean has shown a track record of tremendous success that makes it completely rational to believe that the rest of his season will resemble what a guy like Howard did in May rather than April.
