...do you ever feel a little guilty or maybe even a little dirty because you find yourself hoping for bad things happen to those companies you're shorting?

I know I do.... It's one of the reasons I don't short very often. It makes me feel bad to hope a company develops problems. As in, "Yippee! ABC Corporation just declared bankruptcy and a thousand people will lose their jobs! But I made a hundred bucks!"

I used to feel that way, but then I realized that most companies I want to short are screwing people over in some fashion (esp. Lehman and Fannie/Freddie.)

Not at all. why should I? I am not making these companies go bankrupt, just making money when they do.

It's definitely far more fun to make money on the long side, but making money on the short side makes the collapse of the financial system easier to bear.

Guilt isn't really in my lexicon of understanding.

I can't figure out why you have such a strong distaste for me. While I am not particularly likeable, I don't see how I wronged you.

Russian may not understand how to fix the global financial problems, but he's easily discerning enough to realize that you're a douche.

I don't think douche is the right term for me. Asswipe or jerkoff would be more appropriate.

Or to use russian's lingo - burger flipper.

Your distaste goes beyond the traditional dislike for me. Its borderline irrational.

Pfffttt! I've already done that. It's just that Ben Bernanke won't take my phone calls from Manila.

(I call collect.)

To paraphrase what I read here, you dislike. You cannot state a reason why, or refuse to. And you seem intent on slurring me at every opportunity. My thoughts are that you think I killed your dog, or had sex with your wife, or molested your child. I can assure you none of these are the case. I love animals, have no interest in a woman as old as your wife, and I kill all the kids I molest. So, its clear your dislike is irrational.
