In the final analysis North Carolina's victory over LSU was due to one thing which occurred about 8 times. The Tar Heels scored six or seven breakaway baskets as the result of turnovers which occurred for the same reason. Whenever LSU was passing the ball crisply and quickly they were able to get good shots and score. However, any time a player became stationary with the ball NC made him pay for it. There were several times when Taz mad a couple of dribbles and was cut off from the goal. He would stop and then get surrounded until the ball was stripped. On one occasion he threw a skip pass over the defense to Thornton in the opposite corner for a wide open three. We needed more of that.

There were other times tehe guards picked up their dribble agaisnt the sideline and then tried to force passes with the passing lanes cut off. LSU would have been better off to just throw the ball into the stands and go back and set up. If the game played out the same otherwise it would have come down to execution in the last few minutes and Carolina would have had to play tight with it's season on the brink.

They were also a better team this year. With this coach the future is bright.

LSU had too many dry stretches, similar thing happened against Butler, but UNC has too much juice to overcome that.

UNC has too many options for scoring (Lawson,Hansbrough,Ellington)off those turnovers than LSU could stop.I mean Lawson made some crazy shots and Ellington played perhaps his best game this year.We definitely pushed them and I'm proud of how the Tigers played, even up here in UNCland.

I agree with you that that was the one glaring thing that I haven't seen us do much, and we did it against UNC and they made us pay for it, like a better team does.

I would also add that we have been poor at stopping dribble penetration the last 10 or so games at least, but I expected that weakness to be exposed if Lawson could go... and boy did he. Finally, I thought Temple disappeared on offense down the stretch of the season and in this game in particular.... and no one off the bench ever stepped up into a reliable role (although we pretty much knew what we'd get with Q.Thornton).

We lost to a better team... and I hate to lose with so many unforced errors, but C.J. stepped up big, Thornton and Taz did what was expected... even Bo came back and hit some shots...just not much else help.

We lost because we phoned in the last 2 weeks of the season and played our way out of a #4 seed, thus playing a vastly superior team in the 2nd round than we would have otherwise.

1. UNC has better talent
2. lazy, dumb passes
3. too many ice cold stretches
4. inability to stop lawson/ellington
5. poor officiating

I felt we got to comfortable jacking up 3s and getting away from Taz down low as well. We had a lot of lazy passes that led to TOs that killed us though too, you are def. right about that. I just hope we keep going up over the next 3 or 4 year stretch. I really think if TJ stays that we will.

I disagree.

I say two words why we lost

Ty Lawson

If he doesn't play, I think we win.

UNC didn't even bring their best game and they still won by 14. Had Lawson been healthy and had played the last few games, the Tigers would have lost by 20+.

But LSU did play hard. I'll give them that.
