The taste of macrobrews is usually what turns the beer newbie off. Any smooth ale, with the least bitterness you can find, is best.

Amber is a great suggestion. You might try a heiffeweizen of some sort. Shiner has a good one that easy to drink. Blue moon perhaps.

Abita Light has the least amount of aftertaste of any beer I've ever had. If that's what you're looking for, it's a great beer to start someone off with imo.
