TEAM NEWS

Manchester United:

The injury cloud hanging over John O’Shea (heel) and Rio Ferdinand (ankle) has cleared in time for kick-off.

Right-backs Wes Brown (metatarsal), Rafael (ankle) and Gary Neville (illness) are still out, whilst Owen Hargreaves (knee) continues his lengthy rehabilitation programme from season-ending surgery.

Possible starting XI: Van der Sar, O’Shea, Evra, Vidic, Ferdinand, Carrick, Giggs, Park, Ronaldo, Berbatov, Rooney.

Inter:

Jose Mourinho comes to Old Trafford with a serious hole in his options at centre-half as Marco Materazzi (thigh), Nicolas Burdisso (knee) and Christian Chivu (groin) remain at home in Italy, and some doubts persist over Walter Samuel’s (calf) participation.

Possible starting XI: Cesar, Maicon, Santon, Cordoba, Samuel, Stankovic, Muntari, Cambiasso, Zanetti, Balotelli, Ibrahimovic.

TEAM NEWS

Roma

The Giallorossi have to contend with a seemingly endless injury list for this crucial match: Simone Perrotta, Marco Cassetti, Cicinho and Philippe Mexes are definitely out, Daniele De Rossi is suspended, and Christian Panucci has been left out of the Champions League squad.

Moreover, midfield duo David Pizarro and Alberto Aquilani are major doubts, with the latter training for just five minutes yesterday. Brazilian centre-back Juan reported a muscular problem on Tuesday, but he is expected to feature. Goalkeeper Doni also missed the last training session and Francesco Totti is another big question mark because he still feels pain in his knee.

Probable Starting XI: (4-2-3-1) Doni; Motta, Diamoutene, Juan, Riise; Brighi, Aquilani; Vucinic, Brighi, Taddei; Baptista

Arsenal

Arsenal have a few injuries too, but nothing comparable to Roma's horrific situation. Emmanuel Adebayor, Mickael Silvestre, Cesc Fabregas and Tomas Rosicky are all out.

However, there is good news as Eduardo has recently returned, scoring a brilliant goal in the FA Cup at the weekend, but the Croatian is likely to start on the bench, as is Theo Walcott who is also back in the squad after a long spell on the sidelines. Kolo Toure should recover from a calf muscle strain to start.

Probable Starting XI: (4-4-1-1) Almunia; Sagna, Toure, Gallas, Clichy; Eboue, Diaby, Denilson, Nasri; Van Persie; Bendtner

Guardiola has named every player that he has fit to be ready for the game and only the injured Gaby Milito, Abidal and Puyol have not been named in the squad.

The good news for the away team is that Karim Benzema has travelled with the 20-man squad and is likely to feature. Furthermore, Hugo Lloris and Jean-Alain Boumsong, who also missed Saturday’s loss at the Stade de France, have both been named; but John Mensah is still out so Fracois Clerc could step in.

I'm still new to it, but I'm learning the game more and more. It was evident, even to me, in the first five minutes last night that Liverpool was going to kick the shite of Real Madrid yesterday. Makes you wonder if there's some validity to the fans complaints with Benitez. He let them open it up last night and they rolled.

You should latch onto the Blues, then

It's always nice to have a clash of opinions

Rafa's style is evidently tailored to fare much better to the "continental style," e.g. it seems malleable to combining tacticality and speed, rather than an over-emphasis on physicality. I think this claim is supported with the fact that Liverpool always does well in European competitions and above-average-but-not-good-enough in the EPL.

The thing I have noticed with Liverpool lately, is their too reliant on Torres/Gerrard and when they lose they blame it on Torres/Gerrard not being fit. Benitez can't find a winning side without him in the lineup. Arsenal hasn't fallen flat without Fabregas and Adebayor, nor ManU without Ronaldo or Rooney.

ahem...uh...are you sure about that?

Maybe not completely, but v. persie (who has dropped down in 'the hole' of the attacking third) and Nasri had to pick up extra responsibility in being creative midfielders.

Cesc is sorely missed.

ETA: The difference is that Gerrard/Torres are expected to score the majority of their goals, whereas Cesc is expected to be distribute with amazing vision and angling. Not entirely fair to compare the two situations.

Worried about the game. Inter is going to have to play above and beyond if they want to advance. The injuries suck but oh well. Stankovic and Cambiasso have to earn their paycheck today.

On the rare occasions that I've actually seen Gerrard and Torres on the field at the same time this year, they're a handful for anyone. I latched on to Liverpool early as my team because the guy that owns my favorite bar in Richmond, VA is from Liverpool and he's a huge fan.

Manchester United 2-0 Inter

United has been on good form recently, especially within the attack, Rooney, Ronaldo, Berba, Park, Tevez, all hitting their shots and United has a stronger defensive unit this time, so United at home

Arsenal 3-0 Roma

Roma has too many key injuries, so a stronger gooner squad will take control even though it is an away game

Lyon 1-0 Barca

Barca's form has be beyond horrible and I can't see them pulling off a huge victory, I see Lyon with the 1-0 win, but barca have the away goal advantage, so they'll be looking for a draw

I love Terry and that bar. I only get in there two, maybe three times a year, but he always remembers me and if he's downstairs, HE brings me my first pint.

You are too kind!

Given Barcelona's dip in form of late, I was glad to see them put it together against a decent-good Bilbao side over the weekend. I think moving to the final in the Copa Del rey boosted their confidence and they are now back to playing diciplined attacking ball. I am worried about the defense as they have given up way too many goals thus far; plus the loss of Puyol is major. I like Caceras and Pique but I think they make foolish mistakes at times. I believe Marquez should start in the center as he was CLEARLY the man of the match in the first leg with 16 tackles.

That said I believe Barcelona will attack and eventually open it up so i think it will be a 3-1 game; as I don't see them keeping a clean sheet.

Ibra, from what I've seen domestically and in his club playing, doesn't show up during the big games. And some reports show that Balotelli will get the start alongside him. I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that, if Inter wins, it will be because of Balotelli's production up front.

Pep has come out in the press and stated that Barcelona will NOT play for the draw and that they will actively push for the win. Barcelona will definitelly lose if they "play for the draw" as they are not a team designed to do that. Barcelona will attack and they will try to score as many goals as possible.

As far as horrible form, their form for thelast the weeks was much like that of Liverpool. They lose to an Espanyol side that they are favored to win against and they draw against a good Betis side. We all saw what Liverpool did yesterday; I chalk it up to Barcelona playing 43 games in 7 months and 8 games in 3-4 weeks. The team was mentally tired and it showed.

For a team like Manchester United, Ferguson has 24 proven guys to work with and to rest the key players. Pep only has 18 proven players so he can't get the rotation to keep the team mentally fresh as well as Ferguson. That said, I think Barcelona will be rejuvenated by the return to form against Mallorca and Bilbao.

I would really love to see Inter pull this off but I won't be the least bit surprised if united wins 3-0, 3-1

I don't think Roma should have a chance just based on how they got abused two weeks ago...then again with how spotty Arsenal's play is, this could be more difficult than it should be.

Even with Barca's weird recent form, I still think it'll be a herculean task for Lyon to pull it out...I think Eto'o and Messi score to win 2-0
