Agreed 100%. Every idiot on this board constantly crying about Brown's selfishness, attention seeking behavior, character issues etc... is engaged in the ultimate paradox

If you think the kid is just seeking attention, then leave him alone! Stop giving him attention. But we all know that won't happen because - face it - Bryce Brown is interesting. The saga of Bryce Brown is interesting.

Of course, it goes without saying that the people constantly criticizing the character of an 18 year old kid are just as bad. Do these people not remember what they were like at age 18? How would they have handled national attention back then?

How many time have you been on ESPN? How many posts on this board are devoted to talking about you? How many websites post constant updates on you?

....So it's not exactly the same, is it?

I'm not. I'm just saying that there is nothing wrong with what Bryce Brown is doing. He doesn't owe it to anyone to sign on NSD. He doesn't owe it to anyone to hint at where he is going. He doesn't owe it to anyone sign quietly or commit early.

The reason he can do what he is doing is because people are interested. The second the media stops covering it is the second it stops. But the point of Deshazier's article (which you seem to have missed) was to not blame Brown for the circus - blame the people who hang on his every word, report his every move, and talk about him all day long, because they are the people that allow it to happen in the first place. Without all the coverage, Brown is just one of thousands of high school kids not sure where he wants to attend college next year.

Agree with the article. It's sad that it's come to this. Guess it would take a major change in NCAA recruiting rules to make this process not so out of control.

it takes more than meeting someone/anyone to aruge their character as well. What someone's impression of BB or his friend means shite.

maybe, but I'm talking fans. Also there is no doubt that many of these highschool superstars have huge egos and rub people the wrong way, but oh well, it comes with the territory.

If the player is highly ranked, it's a circus no matter...multiple schools' hats in the middle of nationally televised press conferences, all-star games, pay-for-info recruiting sites...it really is insane when you look at the entire process. Especially when compared to the good ole' days (we'd go over to Andonie's house and ask how many players LSU signed that year).

I grew up in that neighborhood and was in awe everytime I went in that house. Really really cool.

Small world. If you remember, he built the bigger house on the levee (straight down Chateau Dr). His 'LSU' room was even sweeter and they tiled the insignia from the LSU helmet on the bottom of their pool.

Why does anyone have to be blamed? Is there really anything wrong? So what if BB didn't sign on NSD? By rule, NSD is the first day a kid can sign. Who started this unwritten rule that it is not only the first day, but also the last. Bryce may secretly be an axe murderer, but I have seen nothing reported by any reliable source of anything this kid has done wrong.

The media has become increasingly a factor in everything that goes on in public life. It is how Obama got elected. Crimes are tried on TV talk shows before they even reach the courts. Athletics have become such a major part of our society that the media just feasts on every aspect of sports including recruiting.

These kids become media primadonnas sometimes before they leave middle school (LaBron James). How can they not begin to think that they are better than anyone else and privileged beyond comprehension? The ones you want are those who remain grounded, the ones who are self confident but still remain humble, caring, and respectful of authority (Russell Shepard). Ryan Perrilloux is one who got caught up in the adoration and believed he was above the rules and the law. It almost destroyed him. It certainly did humble him. The only question is did he learn from his mistakes.

Bryce Brown is one I do not know, therefore I have no idea how he will play out as a teammate at the college level. However his talent speaks for itself. If he chooses LSU, and I hope he does, I am willing to take the chance. The worse that can happen is that he is a bad apple and Miles would have to release him from the team, ala Perrilloux. At least there is a probablity and likely a high probability that he is a great young kid that the media has misportrayed and who will become a fantastic addition to an LSU team which could become a two or three year dynasty in college football.
