83. We’re getting closer. Mark Baldwin in 1889. Im wondering if he was invited back the next year.

if the ball hits the dirt before reaching the catcher, it’s almost universally scored as a wild pitch.

that’s not an actual rule, but a generally followed rule of thumb.
