Tilt and trim on my 2016 Yamaha F200 is shot and needs to be rebuilt. The motor won’t stay in the trimmed up position. There’s a place in Florida called five star marine that does rebuilds but wondering if any of you baws have used anyone local for a rebuild.

I agree. Brought it to Boat Stuf in hammond and they told us it needed to be replaced as the parts to rebuild it were out of stock/backordered/discontinued.

I'll give David Wade a call

I’m sure they would rather charge you $3k to install new
Maybe they lost their spanner wrench

If it’s just the seals, they aren’t that hard to change. I’ve done it a few times

I had to do the seals on my yamaha. Had to buy a stupid expensive spanner tool. But other than that- take off stuff, clean, refill, replace seals and I think some o rings, put back together.

If its just not staying up- its generally just seals leaking pressure.

^this right here

Make sure its not leaking at seals, filled full with hydraulic oil and cycle it up and down multiple times to bleed any air out.

Mine isn't leaking at the seals from what I can see, but it always seems to have air in it. Is that an early sign of seals leaking?

I think the air had to get in there somehow whether it is from fluid loss or a seal sucking in air.

I would replace the o ring on the fill plug (cheap and easy), check fluid, top off, cycle it. I would tilt it max up position and then let it drop using the manual relief screw, repeat. At least 10 times or so of cycling.

Boat Stuf went in dry on me years ago and almost caused a serious safety issue when I had a boat full of young kids. Never EVER again, I’d rather drive to Texas for parts than do business with them again, and I live 15 minutes away.
