What happened to all the posters criticizing Jay Johnson for speaking out about rev share?

Seems they have disappeared after SEC play started and it is becoming clear that we do not have the talent to compete at the top of the conference

The rev share isn't why this team sucks. Why is that so hard to understand?
Posted on 4/18/26 at 5:37 pm to Gnash
Or maybe Jay failed getting the guys ready to play this year too. Enough blame to go around
Posted on 4/18/26 at 5:38 pm to Gnash
That's not why this is the worst team since Jack Lamabe was here.

Dude the talent disparity is apparent

Ok, that has nothing to do with rev share. These were some of the top players in the portal and they didn't come cheap.
The announcers just spoke on it a few minutes ago. KP's exact words were "any team in the country would've killed to have this portal class".
It should also be noted that you can still have NIL. Rev share doesn't determine the total amount a coach has to spend on his roster.

Can you show us where before the season started you expressed concerns with the talent level that was on this team?

Costello at 1st, Larson in Left and Ryan at 2nd would look really good right about now. Hated that we lost them.

Idk why people keep bringing up Larson in these discussions. He’s not an every day player at Texas either and also isn’t playing outfield there. Even with our struggles this year, he wouldn’t be in our starting lineup. Costello has also hit like .100 in conference play.

If rev share wasn’t a problem, why did Jay get to the point of calling it out publicly?
Why did Verge address it publicly?
It’s in direct relation to the team we’re fielding.

I bring him up because he showed a lot of promise as a freshman, hate to lose those.

I didn’t, I believed we had a talented team and I’m eating crow like everyone else.
All season I’ve seen people post that Jay should keep his mouth shut because LSU baseball is amongst the top schools in funding. It is obvious that is not the case.

And he was bad last year, wouldn’t have started this year, so he left.

Players not performing is not mutually exclusive with being under-funded. We fund our baseball program as much as anyone. We just missed in the portal this year, period
Posted on 4/18/26 at 5:54 pm to Gnash
You realize it could also be and Jay alluded to it as miss evaluation. He let Larson, Mickey and Costelllo walk and replaced it with shite. Money wasn’t the issue

I’ve heard contradictory statements about this

Ryan wanted to play SS.
Larson wanted to start.
Not sure on Costello.
I don’t think he let any of them “walk”

You people are clueless on the differences between rev share and NIL. Rev share does not contribute to the talent on the roster like you think it does. It's small compared to something like NIL. That's not why this team sucks. LSU was snagging top guys out of the portal. They whiffed on evaluations and part of that is on Jay. He said as much. He even admitted without naming players like Bide he screwed up banking on him as catcher and other roster evaluations with who he already had.

Yeah on here from posters reading into some vague comments Jay made preseason who are trying to rationalize why we suck. We didn’t sign top 3 recruiting and portal classes without spending a lot of money
