Horrible fielding is really what has bit us the most this year

Just terrible in the field and the mistakes compound.
Pushes pitchers to throw more. Allows runs. If we could just do better there the offense and pitching would look much better.
Offense would score enough runs more often than not. And pitching would do enough.

I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt and assume that he means horrible fieldING, which has indeed been a problem.

He meant fielding but to be fair we also have bitched about turf fields this year
