"The movie is set in the aftermath of a catastrophic flu virus that nearly wiped out humanity... the movie follows Hig (Elordi), a civilian pilot, and a tough ex-marine (Brolin), who face invaders and the hope for a better life outside their current dwelling."

Looks alright. Predictive programming?

The book had some levity and funny moments. Especially between the Brolin and Elordi characters. I kind of pictured the Brolin character as Bruce Dern from The Burbs. That looks completely dark/dramatic. Who knows. Brolin is talented and the book was great.

The dog's gonna die in the movie, isn't he?

Wow. Peter Heller is one of my favorite authors and I didn't even know they were making a movie out of the Dog Stars. Can already see some pretty major deviation from the book just based on the trailer, but that's Hollywood I guess.
If you liked The Dog Stars, definitely take a look at some of Hellers other works, he's got some really good stuff.

I think the movie looks better than the book was.
I read the book, and while I enjoyed it, I certainly didn't see the vision for a movie out of it. It's just kinda... good enough for a weekend read, I guess?
