We are much more of an empire than the fricking UK
It's not the 19th century anymore. The British Empire cratered after WWI and was almost completely dead after WW2. They are just a cog off the coast of Europe and haven't even resembled a hegemon for over 80 years.
The Crown has been irrelevant for a lot longer than the British Empire, also

The U.S. is an empire. In fact, it’s the biggest empire in world history. And our “ally”, Israel, has long had imperial ambitions, their goal being the extermination of Arabs and perpetual expansion of settlements across the Middle East. If Trump wanted to end imperialism, we’d have left NATO in 2017, wouldn’t still have a presence in places like Iraq and Korea, and we sure as hell wouldn’t be buddying up with the Zionists.
