SEC Basketball Program Rankings this Decade (00-09)

1. Florida - 2 National Titles, + Final four, and multiple SEC titles and tourney titles = obvious choice
2. LSU - (okay I just ducked), but LSU has THREE SEC titles, won or tied the SEC West 2 other times, have a final four and 5 NCAA tourney appearances (including this year). Granted, the other 5 years were mostly abysmal, but only Florida matches LSU's accolades in those 5 years. Not to mention 3 POY award and 3 FOY awards
3. Kentucky - Probably Kentucky's worst decade ever, but better than most teams best decade. A couple of SEC titles, and made the tourney (almost?) every year. But no final fours and few deep tourney runs.
4. Tenn - After winning the SEC in 2000, pretty abysmal until Pearl. Even since then, nothing overly special.
5. Alabama - LSU-lite. Very inconsistent, but even the great years weren't that special
6. Miss State - Some pretty good teams in the early part, but overall pretty blah.
7. Arky - I guess. Been a while since 40 mins of hell.
8. Vandy. Made the sweet 16 once or was it twice?
9. SC. A few decent teams.
10. Ole Miss. Nice 2001 team, but nothing special.
11. Auburn. 2000 was a big disappointment. All down hill since
12. Georgia. A few decent teams could put them much higher than this, but when their best season was halted due to infractions, that doesn't help.

Based on what? Their fewer SEC titles (I think)? Their fewer Final Fours, SEC POY award winners?
They have obviously been more consistent, but the great years for LSU were greater imo

1 Florida
2 Kentucky
3 LSU
Then who really cares about the rest...
Kentucky still has made a few elite 8s and has beaten LSU every time but twice. UK is #2.
ETA: UK has 4 SEC titles since 2000 and more tourney appearances.

I stand corrected. I think UK has 4 SEC titles. And certainly UK has a reason to be at #2. But LSU's seasons have been pretty special

Not counting this year:
UK
3 conf tourney
3 conf reg season
8 NCAA tourney bids
2 sweet 16
2 elite 8
LSU
1 conf reg season
3 NCAA tourney bids
1 final four

KY is on a 17 year NCAA Tourney streak. One of the longer streaks in the country.

1) My post included this year obviously and we have a conference title. Unless a miracle occurs, Kentucky won't (and may not make the tourney)
2) We won the SEC in 2000 (so did UK) and went to the sweet 16 (I think they lost early).
If you leave out 2000 and 2009, this thread is pointless. But with it, LSU at least has an argument.

Including 99-00:
UK
3 conf tourney
4 conf reg season
9 NCAA tourney bids
2 sweet 16
2 elite 8
LSU
2 conf reg season
4 NCAA tourney bids
1 sweet 16
1 final four
Counting this year is retarded, the season isn't over yet.

Not when LSU has already won the SEC. You have to add that to their stats this decade.

Actually even including this year, there is no argument. I put a high price on going deep in the tourney, but 1 Final Four doesn't overcome UK's resume.

Its the whole point of the thread. Its part of the decade and wouldn't have started it had LSU sucked this year. We are already SEC Champs.
After reviewing that UK has 4 SEC titles, I am willing to backpedal some on LSU being #2. But LSU has already won the 2009 Championship, will play for an NCAA tourney, and has a better shot of a tourney run

LSU behind Ky then your list looks o.k.
