Almost all of my trips revolve around bird hunting or fishing.
Anyone else here travel to hunt or fish? We might be able to share helpful information.

I think there should be. I don't do either, but the amount of rifles I've seen trucked on baggage carts in Joburg tells me there will be some cool stories at least.

raises hand
I don’t do as much as I like nor as much as a lot of folks here, but I try to make at least one trip a year to hunt something that we don’t have a season for here in MS.
Typically elk and pheasant, this year I’m mixing in a trip to Alberta for ducks/geese.

Maybe it will get some traction. I have hunted Africa twice so far for upland and waterfowl (South Africa and Namibia). Both flights to Joburg were probably 1/3 hunters on the plane but I was the only one going for birds.

Nice. SCI has a very good member service line to help hunters navigate international requirements.

I’m definitely interested in this. I’ve visited the OB a few times to ask about sportfishing trips in a few locales. I don’t have much to contribute at this point, but hope to have more experience to share down the road.

Cool. I went fly fishing for trout in Japan last year if you would like any info on that.
Asia is generally going to be fishing trips only because of their Buddhist beliefs.
Have fished Alaska, Belize, Oregon, and other places also. Generally all river / lake fishing.

The OB definitely has a lot of knowledgeable folks on it who have a lot of experience in a wide range of locales. That being said, I agree it would be cool to see this thread pick up traction. Most of my past and future experiences will be with fly fishing.
I'll get one started:
We will be going to Cabo San Lucas for a wedding next February. My son and I will likely try to hire a guide out of there for a day of fly fishing. Any recommedations? We just got back from Costa Rica and, knowing what I know now, we would have gone offshore and targeted sailfish instead of staying inshore for roosters on that trip. I'd love to target roosters in Cabo, but not if it's as difficult to catch them as it was in CR.

in for this.
Looking to book a goose hunt in early fall. Open to Canada or the US.
Part of a yearly trip a few buddies and I started. Other trips included Argentina Dove hunt, West Texas whitetail and Idaho fly fishing.

Hunted Saskatchewan some years ago and it lived up to expectations for geese.
Closer to home, from past experience the goose hunting in Kansas can be great. The outfitter I used years ago went a little sideways afterwards so I can’t recommend him. We did all field hunting and one guy wore tennis shoes the entire time,
You could reach out to Ramsey Russell and see what he offers. I am doing his Sweden goose hunt in October.

I love hunting and love traveling but I’m too poor to combine them since they both compete for whatever money I have left
My bucket list trip is a stag hunt in New Zealand

I’d like to hear more about your experience in Belize specifically, as it’s one of our maybes for next year.

Belize is an easy flight from Atlanta, and English is the official language. I only did (1) morning of fishing (offshore) and spent the rest of the time snorkeling, partying on the beach end exploring Mayan ruins (a must do experience IMO). The fish we caught that morning were taken to a local restaurant and cooked for lunch. I think the dive shop set us up with the guide but can’t quite remember.
The 4th pic is me on top of a Mayan pyramid. Guatemala is in the background.
