US crude oil exports are skyrocketing:

US Gulf Coast crude exports are on track to average a record 4.90 million barrels a day in April based on current loadings.

That would be up +23%, or +930,000 barrels per day since March, and up +30%, or +1.12 million barrels per day since February.

At the current pace, May exports will exceed 5.0 million barrels a day for the first time in history.

This comes as Asian buyers are securing US cargoes to offset the loss of Middle Eastern supply while flows from the Strait of Hormuz remain significantly limited.

For May alone, 28 supertankers are already lined up to carry US crude, compared to 5 typically booked at this point in a month.

Global demand for American oil has never been higher.

Isn't this going to reverse itself once the strait is opened? I'm not a crude oil extraction expert but doesn't the US need higher price per barrel to make some of our extraction juice worth the squeeze so to speak?

How many of these barrels are Canadian piped to the Gulf Coast? Yes, that does happen.

I think Canada stuff is too heavy for the Asian refiners.

I am currently offshore and my tasks always present a production upset risk, that's not a brag, just the nature of my job. I was told when I got here to "keep my dick beaters in my pockets". In other words, don't touch shite. I've "worked" about 6 hours in the last 10 days. Mainly admin stuff. Oil is too high, and it's too important right now.

Why was China importing Venezuelan then? Some Asian refineries have cokers. Cokers LOVE heavy. FWIW, a refinery built for 50,000 BPD of intermediate crude can refine 55,000 BPD of heavy crude.

Canada actually wanted to build a pipeline to their West Coast and built the original Keystone pipeline because the Injuns blocked construction. It was to be two pipelines. One pipeline for heavy crude headed west and one smaller pipeline for naphtha and/or high sulfur diesel to go east to be used to thin the very heavy crude coming from wells. This was almost 20 years ago.
