Nice, Muppet

I think that whoever gets the 1 seed in the East this year (Cavs or Celtics) could beat the 8 seed without a coach. That's basically what is going to happen anyways.

The Celtics could. Cassell is going to be a coach one day, right? And with the natural leadership on that team with Pierce, Garnett, Allen they could def beat an 8 or even up to a 6 maybe... Haha maybe except Atlanta, they have bostons number

What if both teams playing have no coach?

I'm pretty sure that would be the most entertaining series of the playoffs.

I just hope Ricky Davis would be playing for one of the teams involved.

Why does this thread exist.

The Boston Celtics just won an entire NBA championship without a coach

I think the Lakers would make it pretty far this year without Phil in the playoffs. Kobe, D Fish, and Luke Walton have been in the triangle for years now, so they're basically coaches in their own right. Kobe and Fish understand the offense and the tempo.

The interesting part would be the substitutions. I'd imagine Kobe wouldn't take himself out of any game ever.

So to answer your question, yes. The Lakers would make at least the 2nd round this year without Phil. Likewise for Boston.

Hell, the Cavs and Celtics playing an 7th and 8th seed East team could win without a coach and with only 4 guys on the court at a time.

I do think that of the 3 big sports, an NBA coach has the least influence on the outcome of a game. I think an NBA coach moreso is a manager of egos, and that is the mark of a good coach, like Phil Jackson. He knows how to handle good players.

Boston and Cleveland basically did it last year, and Detroit was doing it for a while too.

I remember Bob Knight saying that there was one game in the olympics where he was ready to chew the team out at halftime and didn't get one word in b/c Jordan had already did it and they were already heading back out to the court.

Jordan's teams didn't need a coach.

I"m sure the jazz with stockton and malone didn't need a coach in their later years.

and when i say didn't need a coach, i mean for just the game.
