The US hasn’t engaged in a major ground war since before the Russian/Ukraine War.

As we all know, the drone has been heavily used by both Russia and Ukraine.

The US population has largely been insulated from watching US soldiers die in real time. To my knowledge, the US has never seen the horror on the faces of its soldiers the second before they are blown up like has been all over social media relative to Ukrainians and Russians.

If we invade, those instances will happen and those videos will be all over social media…except they will be Americans and we will know their names, their stories, their families.

How much tolerance do you think Americans will have for this ground war when these videos start to show up?

I hope and pray that Trump will think better of putting boots on the ground. Nothing good is going to come of it.

Decades of failed regime change schemes nothing good will come of it.

I'd be surprised if it will be that accustomed to 'ground troops'. I envision more of special ops rather than a traditional deployment. Loss of life? I sure hope not but that would be miraculous

Certainly don't know the machinations of the DOW but they have witnessed that which concerns us and have had to take it into consideration

They are currently deploying marines and the 82nd AB. I’m sure special operations are already there. You think they are immune to drones that use thermal imaging?

The US military, especially in Europe, have been working with drones and the Ukrainians using them. After the Duke UConn game CBS had a segment about it. I would assume from what was shown the military is very aware and are using and implementing similar techniques/equipment. I think they also said two Marine Veterans started a company that’s been put in use for the Ukraine war. I’m not a fan of the Ukraine war and really haven’t followed it so it was cool to see that a lot of this has been happening and the army is highly invested in it. Most of the drones are 3d printed and mass produced very quickly. It would be great to have that type of manufacturing here in the US, especially if Ukrainians are doing it.

Immune? Far from it. They are in the region. Let's see how it plays out.

The DOW has been pretty darn good to date given all that has been done.

Maybe you are right, my brother. I just pray that we don’t have to test the theory.

They have been working with Ukraine but the problems persist. Also, that war is fought in Ukraine, with whom we are allied. In the presence instance, we will be fighting a million man army in their own country.

Not dismissing drones but in ww2 we literally had bodies running at machine gun nests. My how the times have changed and how people forget how brave we once were.

Against an actual existential threat, you would still find plenty of bravery. Sacrificing more Americans for fruitless wars in the middle east after 25 years of the GWoT....there simply isn't an appetite for that anymore. I can't imagine being an 19 or 20 year old kid storming Kharg island and getting taken out by an FPV drone. And for what purpose? What did sacrificing my life and my future children gain for America or for my loved ones?

When one doesn’t have a substantive response, but instead just baseless insults, you know they have no argument themselves.

I could insult you back, but you know the truth and I know that you know you don’t have a real argument against my premise that a ground war with Iran will be awful and unsuccessful.

What purpose does getting blown up in Iran serve our country?

What does debating it over and over on a message board accomplish?

The same as a ground war in Iran, with no loss of life. Nothing. Yet you are here debating, just like me.

I hope MAGA is prepared for videos of US soldiers looking mortified as Iran media publishes drone videos of our troops getting slaughtered by $300 drones

Doesn't help when Trump doesn't address nation to build support.

What’s amazing is if Kamala would have won, all the alleged traitors, like Rogan, Dave Smith, Tucker, etc would still be against it (just like right now) and MAGA folks would also be against it. The only people that would still support it under a Kamala presidency would be Levin, Shapiro, Graham, Schumer and Kristol.

Guess we should’ve elected her then. Can’t wait until Trump is gone because then we will have to find something else to blame for everything.
