Just booked a trip to St John for week of April 12th. Staying at Gallows Point in Cruz Bay. We’ve been twice before but this was in 2016 and 2019, so it’s been about 7 years.

Any new restaurants or bars in Cruz Bay we must visit? How about the rest of the island. I recall driving to Windmill Bar and Skinny Legs in Coral Bay.

Also, any recommendation on a charter company for a day trip to Jost Van Dyke would be appreciated.

Bump. Already booked at Extra Virgin and Morgan’s Mango. We have 3 other nights to consider other dinner options.

Reserve a lobster at Johnny Lime’s. They put them in the smoker and they are fantastic.

We went in 2021 and we enjoyed 1864. Very good food and cocktails. Colombos had good coffee and breakfast sandwiches. Greengos was also a very good Mexican restaurant. Hope y'all enjoy! Wife and I just started talking about going back so now I have the itch!

The Beach Bar is right down the street, the Tuna nachos are awesome, they are close by you, got them everyday we were there a month ago. Took a cap ride to Maho Bay Beach, they have food and drinks at the beach. Rented a zodiac boat from Wharfside Watersports, drove a round a saw all the beaches and then went to Lovango Beach Club to eat and hang out. I enjoyed that area

Hitting Skinny Legs and Windmill Bar are great. As someone else said already, we also did a big dinner at La Tapa for a friends birthday which was excellent.

We enjoyed snorkeling at Cinnamon Bay (go to the right once you get on the beach) and Maho Bay. Lime out was a lot of fun over on the Skinny Legs side of the Island. We brought a lot of frozen steaks and stuff with us in a backpack cooler and ended up cooking at the house a lot.

I'm reaching out to my friend who scheduled our charter to Jost and will edit this if/ when I hear back.

Also going through our pictures and feeling the pull to go back, I hope you have a great trip!

ETA: Our charter was On the Sea Charters. He was great. I think we did 8 hours and were able to hit the baths, Willie T's, the aquarium (snorkeling), and Jost.

Great info all! Appreciate it. We have dinners booked at Extra Virgin and Morgan's Mango for two of the five nights we will be on the island. Trying to get in to Zozo's on another night. Considering 1864 if we are unable to get in Zozo's (apparently they are open only Mon - Frid and have limited seating).

We may keep two nights 'free' to wander and stroll in to La Tapa or somewhere casual like High Tide or Longboard. Given we are going mid-April, I'm not expecting crazy high-season crowds (although it's still not low season yet).

I'm pricing out private charters versus taking a group charter day-trip to Jost. We really just want to vibe out at White Bay for 5-6 hours. The two times I've been in the past were on tours where we hit other spots (ex. Baths, Indians, Willy T., etc.) and we only had about 1.5 hours at JSV. That felt too rushed for me.

As for Jeep rentals - any recommendations? There are tons of options from a simple google search.

Oh if you've already done all of the stops I'd definitely go the ferry route. We took a group boat that left out of the harbor (I think on Tuesday, as that was the day the cruises come in to St. John). We had plenty of time at Soggy Dollar and Foxy's then came back to the boat. Be sure to bring lots of cash the duty fees are cash only and I remember them being pretty high... trying to remember but I feel like it was around $100 for my wife and I. Look into that, I really can't remember specifically.

As to the Jeep we flew in to St. Thomas and rented there. It was significantly less expensive and we were able to get all of our groceries on St. Thomas which was also much less expensive than on St. John. Discount Car Rental was the place we rented from, we liked them but if you can find somewhere else that's a better deal I'd just go with them.

Also one last thing- we went into the spice/ coffee store on the second floor of the main down town building across from where you rent the snorkel gear (across the street from slim man's parking lot near the beach bar). We really liked that store, and the person working there gave us a ton of great tips we enjoyed the whole week. I'd say go check it out earlier in the week and see what they recommend for your open nights.
