My backyard is covered with dollar weed & crabgrass. Any suggestions on what to put on it?

Don't know how much you're speaking of but ground is soft enough right now to use small shovel or pull out crab

What type of lawn grass do you have?

Post-emergent herbicides are limited for crabgrass, and dependent on your lawn grass type. Crabgrass can be effectively controlled using a pre-emergent herbicide, Dimension is a good one, in late winter - early to mid-February.

Crabgrass - LSU AgCenter

Dollarweed - MSM Turf, Trimec, or Fertilome Weed Free Zone. Add surfactant (spreader-sticker) to herbicide solution to increase absportion as dollarweed has a waxy leaf.

Quinclorac for the crabgrass. Get it before it gets mature for best results.

Only on Bermudagrass or Zoysia. It will severely damage-kill Centipede and St Augustine.

Not sure of the kind of grass you have in your yard but I have Bermuda and Celsius Herbicide takes care of a lot of weeds.

Celcius does take care of a lot but it will stunt growth and yellow your lawn for a couple-3 weeks.

I have trouble with absorption on dollarweed even with surfactant sometimes.

I have bad problems with Chickweed in a large back yard, but I need some treatment that won't kill chickens (ironically)...

Any ideas?

Chickweed is a winter annual and will die on its own when it gets hot - probably May, if not earlier.

But plenty of post-emergent herbicides that will kill it. Probably most, if not all, would be safe for the chickens but I can’t say that with certainty. Here is a fact sheet (note: fact sheet has an error - pre-emergent herbicides listed are the post-emergent herbicides & vice-versa). Chickweed - LSU AgCenter

Can you coop your chickens, use a herbicide spray that will dry in a hour or so, and then release them?

If you use a pre-emergent herbicide in the fall-early winter that will reduce your chickweed problem.

I’ve used OTC Image from Home Depot. Works great, may take second spray.
