Weekend rotation

Sorry if already mentioned, what do you think the rotation will be with Moore being out? Will Schmidt stay on Sunday or move up to Saturday? Who will be the 3rd guy?

I think we see Cowan in a starting role for the near term.

Since they are playing Friday-Sunday this weekend I would think Schmidt gets moved up to the Saturday role and then we see Cowan/Johnny Whole Staff on Sunday. Maybe Noot?

That's how I see it.
Several guys will have to step up and give more innings than they've been able to successfully string together so far this year.

Makes sense this week, considering Schmidt pitched game 3 on Saturday last weekend. Seven full days rest.

That's what I was kind of thinking with the extra day with Schmidt probably moving up.

Pretty sure we will see:
Fri - Evans
Sat - Schmidt
Sun - TBA
I think Jay sells out to win the first two and will use whoever he needs on the pitching staff to get it done. I don't see him holding anyone out for Sunday if he has a shot to win the series in 2.

I think Schmidt moves up to Saturday since he will have had 6 days' rest.. While Cowan seems like the obvious pick for Sunday, I think there is a good chance Guidry gets the start. There was really no reason for Guidry to go pitch in the 8th inning this past Saturday. I believe Jay wanted to see how far Guidry could extend.
Guidry pitched a career high, 70 pitches, in game 3 despite not having pitched over 50 yet this season. You have to go back almost 3 years to find the sole outing in which Guidry pitched 60+ pitches.
Guidry's longest outings (pitches thrown) at LSU:
70 - 2026-03-21
66 - 2023-05-07
54 - 2024-05-07
50 - 2026-02-27
In 54 appearances, Guidry has only thrown 50+ pitches 4 times. Moore is injured, and suddenly, Guidry is left in the game to throw 70 pitches? I don't think that is a coincidence. Jay could have brought in Sheerin earlier. Cowan only threw 11 pitches on the weekend and was available. Rizy and Williams both pitched the day before, but only threw 16 & 18 pitches. Jay had options, yet he stuck with Guidry.
Maybe I'm wrong. But there is no other obvious explanation for leaving Guidry in as long as he did.

A Saturday-to-Saturday is 6 days of rest.

That is interesting. Jay often goes off instinct and doesn't do the obvious. I have thought all season long that Jay probably doesn't like having 3 righties in his starting rotation and would probably put a lefty in if given the chance.
Williams or Garcia, maybe?
I mean, Guidry seems to be the obvious choice, but he's also a great guy to have out of the bullpen, because he just has some nasty stuff that confounds hitters the first time through the lineup. After facing a series of pitchers with fastball, slider, changeup, sweeping curve, that 12-6 hook from Guidry is sick.
