Upgrading seat for light to Europe

Are all available seats typically shown? Or are some held back?
This ia American if it matters.
Flight home from NAP to Phil show only 8 seats available for upgrade that have extra legroom.
Should I assume this is it? If I book and things open up can I change seats again?
Thanks.

I'd assume that if there are only 8 seats left, unless there is an aircraft swap day of, that's likely going to be it unless people misconnect. Guessing your flight is in a few months? The American elite members can also get upgraded to those seats a few days prior so I'd expect them to be all gone by the flight time

Yes July and I have no status. We usually fly delta but the price difference was worth using aa.
Thanks .. I’ll book them now. The other option is the second to last row in main which is only two seats and it will be just my daughter and myself. That’s just still a long flight with standard legroom.
Appreciate it!
(Boeing 787-8 is the plane listed as of now. Also thinking I may not want bulkhead .. don’t want to possibly get moved for bassinets)

Also for the trip there(dfw to cdg) there are many more seats available to upgrade. Do prices ever drop?

787 is a comfy plane, those seats will be great for the long flight.
They can, just keep an eye on it! Aa would rather make some money on paid upgrades vs giving away free upgrades to elite members

The main cabin, regular seats, two in the row will be good? Just want to make sure I’m understanding right! I want to start the trip right so we’ll upgrade to Cdg for sure. Maybe not the return if you tell me seats are comfy. Save the money for food or tours or shopping!
Really appreciate it Cuse. It’s a mother/daughter trip and I’m so excited.

I'm not sure how the seats are in the back of the plane, but not having anyone next to you would be a big plus to me even if it's in the back
The extra legroom seats should be much better to just have more space. I would definitely upgrade for the red-eye going east to europe. The return agreed may want to save your money

This. I also do not like bulkheads because the in flight entertainment (in the armrest) can't be used until cruise, and the seat width is slightly reduced for it (haven't flown AA in decades, but my general experience.)
Also, at the bulkheads where there is some space, people like me go do calf exercises on long flights near your seat.
Don't stress over the legroom upgrade on a 787 to Europe. It's a relatively short flight for you from the East coast; your biggest risk is probably if either of you has someone with the IFE box underneath the seat in front of you.
Have you already planned out your itinerary in another thread?

Well we’ll be from Dfw to Cdg so it’s long at least to me lol.
I’m going to be judged but we used a travel agent. I don’t want to screw up time frames etc and she’s getting g all that we want done in there.
Paris 3 nights. Rome 4. Sorrento 2. There were some things my daughter really wanted so we adjusted.
I’ll be back for tips I’m sure. I’m so excited .. except I broke my wrist last Monday and had surgery Friday. So glad it was now and not later if it was going to happen. Will be good to go by then.

As long as you and the daughter are getting what you want, I won't judge (Disney is an exception)... The first time
Let us know what you two are interested in. Do not miss a nighttime cruise on the Seine past the Eiffel tower, though. Women love seeing it all sparkly at night while sipping BYOB and playing whatever music they want on a private boat for 30m.
And remember, Paris is about sitting in a cafe, eating and sipping for hours watching people. It's not the Louvre. It's asking hotel staff where they would get croissant for breakfast, and then going there. Walking past groceries off the beaten path and smelling the chickens roasting and dripping their schmaltz onto potatoes at 11AM that won't be bought for six more hours. Stuff like that.
I have few positive comments about Rome, so I'll refrain.

We’ll be in Paris for my birthday and I'm Excited. She wants the Dior Museum and I want the Eiffel Tower. And yes to the river cruise.
We’ll spend a day In Pisa/Florence, visit the Vatican (we’re Catholic and I won’t Apologize), the coliseum, roaming .. and Sorrento will be a hopefully leisurely time. Stopping at Pompeii on the way.
TA got all of our transfers, travel tickets.
I wish we had more time but her job is what we’re planning around. I’d have chosen April but she just can’t.
Thank!

April wouldn't be a great time to go to Northern Europe, it's all good.
The sad thing about the coliseum is that once you've walked up to Tiger Stadium, with very similar architecture, it's... so small. If you have a chance, the American WWII Cemetery at Nettuno is a 35 minute train ride away from the Coliseum (Termini.) Is s grand. Every one I've visited in Europe is just beautiful. The grocery store outside the gates is the first place I saw what was probably a 100 kilo wheel of parm on a pallet, for sale.
Eat everywhere! Get cheese plates. Get steak frites, eat the egg in a cup with toast points, enjoy all of it! The appetizer plates of meat and cheese in both countries (and Spain) are just amazing overall. Vastly underrated IMO.

Will probably skip that cemetery as my aunt is planning a trip to Normandy in 2028 in June. My grandfather was a pilot on DDay Normandy with the royal Air Force and a curator from the museum there has invited his children and grandchildren, and any other family actually who want to visit there. He will be our personal guide in Normandy and all the little surrounding towns.
So I will save that type of tour/visit for that trip. My husband will be coming with me on that one.

Splendid! Their stories are gold. You're lucky to have him around.
Not that it will come up in your future travels, but even the American cemeteries from WWI are just immaculate the way Arlington is. 100+ years later, in the middle of nowhere. Three hours (if I remember correctly) from Paris, Meuse Argonne:

Only on this board would someone compare the Colosseum unfavorably to Tiger Stadium. LSU fans...wow.
