In 2022 Ole Miss started the season #1 and ended up 7-14 in SEC play. Oh and by the way they won the National Championship that same year.

If there isn’t a rain delay in game one of that series, Ole Miss doesn’t make the post season.

Great. Now we're as good as Ole Miss.

The comparison to 24 LSU is far more appropriate. We also started with a high ranking based mostly on the previous year’s results and assumptions. Had to replace a lot. Not all of the transfers were instant hits. Had to play younger guys who weren’t 100% ready and had to grow into the roles. Lots of inconsistency.
That team was better in the non-con, but started SEC play 3-12 with 2 sweeps and were run-ruled multiple times. The bats were inconsistent and so was the pen. This team has an opportunity to come around quicker than that if the light comes on sooner than it did that season.
