Not a single coach above Wade in the top 30 coaches in NCAA basketball are going to come to LSU. Thats just a fact. The reason ppl want Wade is he’s ACTUALLY attainable. No one “better” is coming here. Period.

We don't need to make a move then.

I don't think that's what it is. There's several guys I think would give LSU a look if they seriously called.

It's more that Wade is liked by not just boosters but also the fanbase. I'm pretty sure Wade liked it here as well.

McMahon shot LSU basketball in the head last season then burned the corpse this year. The program looking like Rutgers football isn't very attractive.

This is a dumb take. Anyone with eyes can easily see LSU has potential in basketball as long as they commit to it. Plus they're in the SEC which automatically makes it more attractive just from a media+money perspective. Anyone who knows anything about LSU knows they got some very deep pocket boosters all it takes is commitment to LSU's basketball program. It's a sleeping giant someone is going to tap eventually.

Which of these guys do you think is leaving their current school?
the only two you could possibly even have a shot at is McCollum and Otzelberger and those percentages are very low.

Agreed. The program looked dead in the water in Johnny Jones' last year, and it took a coaching change to re-energize the program and fan base. Similarly, the program looks not just dead in the water but buried six feet under because of its overall lack of success under the current coach. Once again, it's going to take a coaching chance to re-energize not just the program and fan base but also the donors. They're not going to contribute to the current coach because they're not getting ROI.

Point being, LSU has basketball potential as long as there is a commitment to being successful over the long haul, not just in spurts.

Something LSU hasn't done for men's basketball in 30 years.

LSU has made 3 hires since the SEC started taking basketball serious and they're all mid major coaches. This ain't football, only big game LSU is hunting is if the boosters land Wade.

Did you think the same before Saban came along for football? There's a reason boosters want Wade. They know he can win and they know who he is. They probably feel he's the guy that can turn this program around. Once LSU sniffs success in basketball the support will come out for it like it happened in football.

Which in my opinion what makes the opportunity even more attractive. Pre NIL would have been a different story. Not an exact parallel but do you think Indiana could have won the NC pre NIL? Point is with player movement, NIL funds you can turn a roster over and compete quickly. Unlike how it was in the past. Also LSU might not be top tier brand recognition in basketball but we are not bottom feeders. Some serious talent has come through the program. I agree with the sleeping giant analogy someone else mentioned. Just like when Nick came and said the same thing. We just need the right head coach and competitive NIL funding and boom we are tourney bound.

Not really because LSU actually tries in football and definitely started trying once Emmert was running things more than Joe Dean.

And that's why I said Wade's the only big game hunting they'll be doing.

LSU had success with Wade and while he was here he was begging for more admin support. Once he left there wasn't any additional outpouring of it with McMahon.

Of course LSU basketball can be better than the dogshit we are now, we just saw it with Wade, but the job is not the same sleeping giant football was because LSU admins do not take it as seriously and the recruiting base is not close to the same. Maybe they'll turn over a new leaf but nothing LSU has done since Shaq was on campus tells me they're going all in with men's basketball, even if we do land Wade again.

Because we are a football first school that has sucked terribly the last 4 years and threw the last coach who won anything under the bus.

You can play the mid major roulette wheel or get an established coach with some baggage.

It will be hard getting worn out boosters to put up money for an unknown commodity.

Hence-will wade.

To be honest, I would be shocked if we got him. If he didn’t have history with us, I don’t think we could get the NC State coach honestly.
