Is Webb really as bad as everyone makes it out to be?

I see multiple comments here and there about Webb being packed and not beginner friendly. I used to go with friends years ago and we are by no means great golfers, but I don’t remember having any problems. What’s changed, or maybe the better question is what’s everyone’s biggest complaints about that course?

I think it’s a fine course, just a bit monotonous. I think it’s a good beginner course.
My complaint is only with how slow its play can be but I think that’s a problem for all the courses here.

My biggest complaint about that course is people on adjacent holes picking up your golf ball whether you've missed the fairway by a foot or by a football field.

Daughter had a high school match there last week and the greens were hot garbage and the bunkers are pretty unplayable.

That sucks to hear. Seems you have to pay an arm and a leg to play at a nice course.

Yup and Webb could be a fun course if they’d spend a little money on it. But thats never gonna happen unfortunately. Baton Rouge doesnt support golf. Hell I was up in Shreveport not too long ago and the public golf situation up there is waaay better than

They lose their greens all the time. And by lose, I mean you get to putt across sand

If Webb demolished all their greens and started over, it would be a big improvement. But there's nowhere to send all those golfers because BREC has shut down all the affordable courses in town.

But imagine Webb with greens like Clark. They did a good job with those greens and they should make the greens at Webb much larger and less turtle back. Hell, keep 9, 11 and 18 greens and blow the rest up.

Clark’s greens have gone to shite. The shape and layout is fine, but they’re not being maintained well.

I thought this was a Webb Simpson thread. He's been toast since he hurt his back .

State of golf here in BR has me questioning my commitment.
4.5 hour rounds
Crappy greens
I dunno. Sucks.
