My sister is deciding between EDS and T.S. Cooley for her son's school next year.

He tested for Cooley and got in.

Usually, the choice between a private school and public school in Louisiana is pretty easy, but apparently Cooley is a really good public school that is very STEM based.

Would like to hear opinions.

If education is the only factor, which is best?

TS Cooley

Depending on where your sister lives may affect her decision.

Are you familiar with Lake Charles? Im assuming yes since your username is Chastains.

If you live in graywood the school is inside the neighborhood so obviously huge plus.

EDS k-6 is still the North campus on Division street and Kirkman downtown. the South EDS Campus is grades 7-12 is in graywood. My kids go to EDS. Both schools are great option. I have coached a few kids that attended TS Cooley and they have received a great education.

We have been very pleased with AA Nelson.

Have a 3rd grader and will have a kindergartener this fall.

Daughter tested well 2 years ago for Cooley but ended up not getting in.

Our kids will go to EDS starting next year. It's expensive but the environment is much better than public school.

I'd choose Cooley unless they are going to go private the whole way.

Agreed. All the kids that go to these schools are well prepared.

Honestly, from everything that I have heard, you really can't go wrong with either.

I asked the lady some questions leaning that way and she said they were very traditional.

But then again there were two lady priests up there leading the kids service.

They allow you to withhold your kids from the service. They had some kids who were not participating we saw.

We're Non Denom (AoG) so I liked having that option.
