The question keeps getting asked, why Will Wade because there are other better coaches. First, this position is fairly ignorant. As far as resumes go, Wade has one of the best in college basketball for a coach under the age of 50. The people who keep claiming there are better coaches all seem to come up short when you ask them to name these better coaches that LSU has a chance to land.

This also ignores that hiring a "good" coach does not guarantee success at LSU. Winning at LSU is different for several reasons. Most importantly because you have to compete with other really good and really popular athletic teams on campus.

There have been a lot of good coaches who didn't win at LSU. Trent Johnson was a really good basketball coach when he came to LSU, he made Sweet 16 runs at both Nevada and Stanford before coming to LSU. Johnny Jones was a good coach, he made the tournament twice at UNT and has since made the tournament three times with Texas Southern. Matt McMahon is a good basketball coach. Made three tournament appearances with Murray St.

It takes a certain personality to win at LSU. You have to sell your program, recruit and be a really good coach. Dale Brown was the road map. Brady had success in spurts, but never consistent. Wade won and won consistently here. Four tournament appearances in 5 years, a Sweet 16, and conference championship. We have not had a 5-year stretch with that level of consistency since the 80's. He is a proven commodity that can win AT LSU.

We know Wade can be successful here. Any other coach would be a hope that he can win at LSU.

Am I saying that it should be Wade or bust? No, McMahon needs to go either way, but Wade is the best choice, and we should pursue him until he says no before moving on to other options.

Fun fact. There are only 7 coaches in the country that have a longer NCAA tournament streak than Will Wade

Tom Izzo
Mark Few
Bill Self
Rick Barnes
John Calipari
Kelvin Sampson
Matt Painter

Only 11 coaches in history have taken 4 different schools to the dance. He’s one of them.

I’m not reading all that but count me in the majority that wants tPear back. I haven’t actively watched MBB since he left. I would go to games by myself when Wade was here. The people that can’t grasp the concept that he was a rockstar here and his passion bled into a passive BB fanbase are either retarded or gay. Or both.

BRING OUR BOY HOME

Why the frick would Wade want to leave NC State for LSU? He’s a basketball coach not a football coach. Especially after Woody drug his balls across his face.

Which one of these guys has proven they can win at the P5 level? Which one of these guys has a better resume than Wade?

You've actually just proved my point. Lots of good coaches in that list, but all would be unproven at this level. Wade is not unproven.

First, ACC money versus SEC money. Not even close, SEC has an ESPN TV contract, ACC is on what channel?

Second, Woody is gone. The Governor drug his across Woody's face. Wade has a great relationship with the people in charge from the Governor, the System President, to the Chair of the Board of Supervisors.

It's been posted by me and others several times on the rant:

NC st WILL NOT be participating at the highest level of college athletics once the next major conference realignment takes place, unless something ridiculously unlikely occurs.

It’s already happening. The ACC was the top conf in basketball for a very long time, they’re 4th or 5th depending on how good the Big East is now days. Just look at a program like Ga Tech who is the local team in one of the top 2 basketball hubs in the south. They haven’t been good for 20 years yet prior to that were a national power.

Spot on. Also, the ACC is in the first year of UNEVEN revenue distribution among their schools.

Clemson and FSU are getting a bigger piece of the pie than Wake, NC state, syracluse etc...

LSU is getting paid out $71 million this year from SEC revenue share. If all the ACC schools got equal shares, it would be in the $45 million range.

But the wolfpack won't get that. They'll probably get in the $25-30 million range due to the big ACC schools taking more.

And it will only get worse with each year. There are schools most people would consider pretty big names who are sweating profusely over where they're gonna end up in the near future.

Exactly, it’s not a good thing and I hate that it’s happening but it is happening. Everything is funneling upwards

A lot of people around LSU's admin is good friends with Wade. I think Wade loved it here too so that might have something to do with it. He got ousted by a few guys with the rest including fans not really agreeing with it. I don't think he holds anything against LSU for that since the ousters are gone.
