This is what a statesman sounds like. What his promises sound like. ZERO wars in 8 years. Hope and optimism abounded from Ronald Reagan. The President's credibility and title was trusted (for the last time.) The 1980s were considered America's best. "MAKE AMERICA GREAT" was Ronald Reagan's slogan. And HE MADE GOOD ON HIS WORD.

Transcript:

quote:

RONALD REAGAN:

"The price of even a small home could be two hundred thousand and what about their parents trying to make ends meet right now?

"To stop inflation we've got to put a ceiling on federal spending we've got to crack down on waste and we must lower our tax rates to encourage individual productivity.

"In California where i was governor for eight years we went from near bankruptcy. To financial help we gave the taxpayers billions of dollars in tax relief and we met the needs of our people.

"If we're going to stop inflation we must do it now not with bigger government it takes better government that's what we owe ourselves and our children. That's why I'm running for president."

Only one man has the proven experience we need Ronald Reagan for president. LET'S MAKE AMRICA GREAT AGAIN.

As a respected statesman, President Reagan demonstrates how demeaning one's opponent, the process and office is not necessary.

Since Ronnie we've had to endure ....

2 terms of Slick Willy

2 terms of Dubya

2 terms of Obango (most divisive in history)

1 term of Biden (most destructive in history)

..... so yeah, it was time to Make America Great Again ..... again.

I liked Reagan, but the deficit exploded on his watch. He was unable to stop Tip O'Neill and the Dems from running it up.

What legislation got passed through during Reagan's first Presidency was accomplished with both a DEMOCRAT Senate and House.

Trump has had a REPUBLICAN Senate and House -- and still struggles to rally the GOP and push through any beneficial legislation whatsoever. HOW CAN THAT BE?

Donald is much, much closer to Bill Clinton than Ronald Reagan.

True to a degree. The Dems still controlled the purse-strings.

We are told the usual varmint was the cause -- a sorely lacking Military Defense Budget had to be raised and 'modernized". The MIC got what they wanted. BUT at least they had to wait until Poppy Bush was President to use it.

That said, the greatest, most stable, hopeful and optimistic 8 years in modern US history happened on Reagan's watch. No other 8 years come close. America took their cue from him.

Give me the demographics of 1980 and Trump wins with a similar electoral map

Absolutely near-political, philosophical twins.

You can barely fit a sheet of paper between their respective politics, charm & charisma, lack of principles, shallowness, and hound-dogging.

If Kennedy were around today he’d be solidly in the Rep party.

Dems would crucify him

Life changes what’s your point??

Spend a little time comparing Clinton or Obamas position with the last 30 years to what the Dems propose now

Hell spend some time watching Schumer Pelosi and Biden from 2000 until today.

Unrecognizable.

Donald Trump couldn't have been elected dog-catcher in 1980. The American public in the 1980s wasn't fooled by his type glib nonsense.

Trump's style of coarse demeanor, unsophisticated understanding of politics and policy, default ad hom recklessness, and pomposity would have bombed spectacularly in any era but the recent cluster-fricked post-0bama timeline.

True!

And what's more -- he'd have likely been closely aligned with...Thomas Massie.

American Statesman standards and median IQ levels of Americans (and politicians) have dropped abysmally.

Trump is still trying to see Reagan's call to Make America Great Again a reality.

Clinton had as much to do with American Statesman standards dropping as any President before or after Reagan

Considering Bidens IQ level while in office I think the bell curve was broken on your second “point”
