Am I missing something? I know it’s early access but this feels like it should’ve been an update or dlc, not a completely new title.

I can understand this mentality if it was a $50 game. It was $20 and it came out like a decade ago. They eventually have to release a sequel....

I bought it but gonna wait a few updates to fire it up

They are definitely few and far between. The original slay the spire is one of the few. This is coming from someone that never got into any other deckbuilders and very few roguelikes (I guess technically roguelite?)

I've never been a huge fan of the genre, but Slay the Spire is the exception. It is soooo good, and just talking about it is making me wanna go try another run!

Just jumping in to agree with others that Slay the Spire is awesome.

Haven't played the new one yet.

Apparently you're not alone in this assessment... :)

I think they probably didn't want to alienate the already existing fanbase by making it too much of a departure from the original. The older I get, the less I want to learn too many brand new mechanics, and I appreciate the balance of old and new in the sequel.

The multiplayer is pretty decent though. But makes it too easy
