Does anyone else pay them around 79 dollars for not doing a f’ing thing every month?
It’s 3x my water bill.
Intelligent responses, please.

That is why I am glad I live in an older subdivision without sewage service. I have a septic tank and for solids, but shower and other gray water go right into the ditch.

Kind of a home and garden board question, but wouldn’t that setup make your system more prone to issues? There is less water going through it to break up solids.

Yeah I noticed it just went up.
I havent had any issues with my sewage tho.

I haven’t had many issues in the nearly 30 years I have lived there. Only issues were when a shower was running in there causing too much water into the system and one issue with wipes. Before Ida, trees were clogging the system from the natural absorption of water in the drain field.
Now I don’t have any trees, the system is fine. I probably could use a pumping and the tank is probably nearing the end of its service life.

There's a bill that was pre-filed that you might be interested in.

I guess Fontenot was tried of companies like Magnolia coming in and raping people at 80 dollars a month and still having issues with sewerage because the plants put in by Magnolia and it’s predecessors do not have enough processing power, have never been maintained properly, reaching end of life, or need serious upgrades.
Only way to get the cost down is if it were tied to a more industrial or community sized processing plant and have more customers. It also helps if it were a municipal or government run utility where they can get state and federal funding to build those projects and receive disaster assistance after a hurricane. FEMA will hand out checks to CO OPs and municipalities for utility damages, but a company like Entergy is on the hook for its damages after a disaster.
Now on the flip side, if you do install your own system, it is about 3-20 thousand, and you have to have regular pump outs every so many years. If you can be on the low end of that spectrum, you would save, but you have to bear the cost upfront.
This bill should be the Joe’s Septic work for life bill as residents line up to replace expensive privately owned sewer companies and go with single home septic systems. The big concern with this bill will be from environmental groups especially north of the intracoastal who will argue at home systems with discharge will impact the drinking water as some untreated sewerage will make it in Bayou Lafourche.
After taking another look at the bill, a glaring issue at the bill will be with government owned sewerage, some subdivisions have sewerage districts that act like a municipal system and do nothing but appoint companies like Magnolia to run manage and bill for the system. The board does have the right to set rates, but they are essentially a puppet for Magnolia as Magnolia tells the board what rates they want or they will leave.

I’m in a MUD and my water bill averages around $150/month. Only about $20 of that is usage. The rest is all base fees. It’s criminal.

Mine is separate from my water bill.
A company in Dallas.
I called and they told me the money goes to upgrading the sewage system.
I them that that wasn’t my responsibility,
Why don’t they do a mileage or tax proposal. Now, I’ve found out they’re using the money to update small unincorporated settlements
Total BS.

my parents have their own septic tank and i dont think they have to have it pumped regularly. i think the only reason they ever had to pump it out is because the pump inside got clogged by a wipe or something

Look deep into the LPSC approval on this company. They were allowed to use new and unproven formulas for their rates. Auditors for LPSC did not know what to do to evaluate the submissions.
