Sorted by difference between career and 2026

Brown 0.946 / 1.188 (386 career PA) RF
Pearson 1.025 / 1.178 (44 PA) 3B or DH

Dardar 1.008 / 1.059 (447 PA) 2B or DH
Arrambide 0.887 / 0.962 (127 PA) C
Caraway 0.853 / 0.909 (407 PA) 3B

Yorke 0.982 / 1.004 (815 PA) 1B or DH
Stanfield 0.786 / 0.804 (672 PA) LF

Simpson 1.047 / 0.992 (657 PA) 1B or 2B
Milam 0.908 / 0.819 (623 PA) SS
Reaves 0.774 / 0.643 (106 PA) 2B or 3B
Curiel 0.957 / 0.798 (389 PA) CF

Braun 0.801 (40 PA) OF, 1B or DH
Serna 0.646 (25 PA) C

Curiel, Brown, Milam, Stanfield are in lineup when healthy.

Part of the problem right now is that Curiel and Milam are not hitting like we know they can and Stanfield is out.

Arrambide is hitting okay but his defense is shaky. Serna can be a defensive replacement if Cade continues to struggle.

Caraway has been solid enough at third.

Dardar has done enough batting-wise to be either 2B or DH.

The open/platoon spots are DH, 1B, and 2B (if Dardar is DH).

Yorke, Simpson, Braun, Pearson are all hitting okay - not great - but none of them have yet to face SEC pitching other than Pearson a little last year). It may come down to who plays defense better.

Other than Jake Brown improving, no one has yet replaced the offense/defense combination of Jones, Dickinson, Hernandez. And Braswell's range at third.

Even if Serna was a better defender (he’s not), you don’t take Bide’s bat out of the lineup for a freshman who looks lost at the plate right now

Not sure what makes you think Serna would be a defensive replacement. He was known for his power coming in and has a lot to improve on defensively. Playing this many games this early and Arrambide catching so many of them does not help his production in my opinion. Arrambide has caught in 11 of the 14 games. That is a lot 20 days into the season.

Agree with both of you on Arrambide. I did a bad job of stating that Serna will only give Cade a rest on midweek games since neither one is plus defensively and Serna is not ready hitting-wise. We will need Cade's bat on the weekends and hopefully it gets even better in SEC play. Cerna can do similar to what Cade did last season behind Hernandez and get some spot experience.

I wouldn't overthink it too much. We went from having outstanding at bats and making pitchers pay in our counts to having absolutely awful at bats and rarely squaring a ball up. Reality is probably somewhere in the middle when it's all said and done. If we consistently hit for par, with some boom and less bust, we'll be a threat.

The pitching should be good enough to keep us in games.

The defense, though I thought it would be good enough, has become concerning and I don't see a whole lot that can change other than just making the damn play (or, as a catcher, just catching the damn ball). Hopefully we're better than we've shown.

ETA: Not to make any excuses for the catchers, but we have a very diverse staff. We've thrown a lot of arms out there and no 2 are alike and most extremely different. This is Arrambide's first go at this full time, and Serna is a puppy.

I think alot of the early success was really inflated playing northern teams that hadn't had much practice and or game simulation type reps. We got UCF on Sunday with what was left of their staff and Kent st on a Monday. But thats baseball. I just think it gave us a little false sense of hope in regards to how good we are offensively. But we are better than this current downward slide as well.

A better analyses would be SEC numbers and post play .. Pre SEC play means very little to how good a player is..
