Paramount is pushing its new G.I. Joe plan in a very specific direction.
After Deadline confirmed two separate G.I. Joe movies in early development, our sources tell us that Paramount wants these projects to feel like a throwback, an “80s style action film” that stays true to the spirit of the animated series.
Here’s what our source told us:
“Yeah, that project's gonna be cool. Paramount wants a throwback, 80s style action film, true to the spirit of the animated series. Still talking to directors.”
I’d read elsewhere that Danny McBride is involved in at least one of the films.

McBride is writing one. Max Landis is writing the other.

I believe these two projects are also competing. At least that's what the Variety article made it sound like.

I was definitely surprised to see the name. If Paramount is hoping for that Bright energy, we should all be praying that they scrap this whole project.

If it ain't about the MASS Device or trying to stop Cobra from stealing the DNA from the corpses of Napoleon, Genghis Khan, Vlad Tepes, Montezuma and others to make a super soldier commander (and name him something like Serpentor) then I ain't interested.
