Should Guidry be the Friday starter?

Evans is extending but he just doesn’t have the stuff he had last year in relief. Maybe Guidry could extend in the same way

I’m thinking Cooper Moore on Friday, Schmidt on Saturday, and Evans on Sunday.

Sunday wouldn’t be out the question with the way he’s commanding his pitches

So Cooper Moore Friday, Shmidt Saturday and Guidry Sunday?

Seems to be juiced coming out the pen... hes deadly there... dont frick w that.
Evans pitched a great game and is extending. If not for a shitty zone and subpar defense I dont think he gives up 2.

Someone who can close out a game with 2, 3 or even 3+ innings in invaluable come the post season.
He needs to stay right where he is.

If Evans keeps giving free passes there will have to be some kind of change. Fastball is all over the place. Guidry is placing the ball very well.
Damn I love seeing Guidry coming in to shut the door

I would rather have Guidry as my lock down reliever to close out a win, be it Game 1, 2 , or 3. You never know which game it will be in a given series, but I want him there to help bring me to the finish line in a close game.

Evans is going to be fine. Both hits he gave up were not hard hit balls. And he struck out 10. I do not foresee him continuing to walk people like he has. This shite we're seeing right now is exactly why the MLB has spring training games. If he keeps struggling into SEC play, then this discussion can be had. But he's been better each week. Y'all need to relax

Naw, he fits so well into that extended relief slot
Also, I think he has potential closer stuff as well. I think he is too important in that long relief/game closer spot
You will need tht guy to bring in, you really need more than one of those guys. Hopefully Sheerin can slide into that extended relief/closer spot as well. These guys become so much more important when you don’t have a bonadfide ace
My hope is that we let these 2 solidify the bullpen and let the rest battle for starting. I think Evans and Schmidt have the stuff to be plenty serviceable as starters, just need to get some time to settle in to the role like eyanson last season
We have a lot of depth in the pen for situational pitching and 1-2 innings of help. We need guys like Cowan and Rizy to get it together and be able to come in and stop the bleeding and set us up for the close

Sheerin is already proving to be that guy , I’m not sure we need two of them

Guidry needs to be like shores at the end of last year.

Maybe you have a series where you need them in back to back games?
And if you don't use Guidry on Friday or Saturday, let him start Sunday and go 4 innings or so.

Evans was great tonight after a mildly rough start. It’s way too early to even think about making this change.
But time will tell.

The art is figuring this out… we’ve obviously got the pitchers. Casan pitched welll tonight he’s just not that dominant arm. I’m a fan of pitch by committee with the six or so arms you can rely on

We have 19 pitchers. At some point some of them who we aren’t talking about are gonna have to step up. Ricken, Paz, and/or others

I mean they wouldn’t be losing that if Guidry were added to the rotation. Whoever he replaces would shift into that role. Evans was elite in that spot last year, and Schmidt certainly has the stuff to dominate in shorter appearances as well.
That said, neither Evans nor Schmidt has done anything to lose their starting roles yet. Evans probably would’ve thrown up zero tonight with the normal outfield behind him, and Schmidt just had the best outing of his career last week.
Hopefully it ends up being a good problem to have. Would be nice if Noot or Cowan could step up into another multi inning bullpen guy.
