I want McMahon gone like everyone else. It’s not my money, so if someone is footing the bill to kick him out… awesome.

I ask because I really don’t know who our biggest basketball donors are.
Shaq? I feel like I’ve heard before he has slowed on money to the school.

I am certain there is plenty of overlap between the FB and basketball donors. And I know some here are concerned with basketball siphoning resources from FB and baseball.

I feel like if Verge pulls this trigger to fire and hire someone new (maybe Wade), then he is getting Basketball only commitments.

Some of you people on this board are incredibly naive.

Verge ain't pulling any trigger.

Rousse and Mallet are the gunners!

If they retain McMahon LSU deserves $0 in NIL donations.

This. If McMahon is retained, any NIL donor is just throwing money down the toilet. They'll never see a return on that investment.

I just don't understand why LSU would consider retaining ANY coach who has won just 21 percent of his/her SEC games in four seasons.

The only thing that might make any sense is that if LSU is hellbent on getting Will Wade to return, he'd do it under the condition of staying at NC State for two seasons, which is how long he stayed at Chattanooga, VCU and McNeese.

Shaq could do it.

I don’t think Tyrus Thomas has the $ but he should start pulling guys together

Shaq?

Nope, Shaq has stated he is not giving a dime to NIL if players can take the money and not produce, and/or simply decide to go elsewhere. He thinks people need to earn their money like he did.

In the large corporate NIL world, like Canes, there is. In the yearly big money boosters, it is not as much as you think. In basketball, as in most sports, the former are more about getting exposure while the latter are mostly fans of LSU basketball.

There is also an influence structure in basketball that involves a few former players and coaches (Dale Brown, specifically). I am not sure if their influence has remained the same with the new President and BOS members/structure. They have been helpful at times and seemingly an impediment at other times. I am not certain where Verge falls with these guys either.

I was thinking OP was more so asking who would donate & foot the bill for McMahon’s buyout & new coach etc., not actual “NIL” for players

Do Holden Spaht, Todd Graves, Scott Ballard, Pepper Rutland, Ben Bordelon, etc care enough about MBB? Probably not

Brandon Landry & Jack Warner (walkons) seem like a good fit, but I don’t know how deep their pockets are
