i've been wearing my 'travel agent' hat and booked a sweet getaway for my wife and daughter who is graduating this year.
due to a bunch of catty drama with the other moms she opted out of the 'group trip' to Naples, FL so i vowed to find something even better for just the 2 of them for around the same price.
they're staying in a cottage right on the water near McKann's settlement in the middle of the island. I had to coordinate with Southwest and the pilot who is going to fly them from nassau to stella maris airport. crazy shite, he just gave me his cellphone and our converations are like "well if you get to nassau in the middle of the afternoon i don't like flying after dark so lets try to leave before 3 or 4pm"
anyway, i see 'blue hole' which looks amazing and i'm getting them a rental car but i dont konw ANYTHING about the bahamas or this island other than it seems quiet and off the beaten path.
anyone spent time there can give me any advice?
eta here's where they are staying: $1,300 for 5 days. you can't beat that price anywhere.

i think its brand new maybe thats why the price is so good.
love the people so far; i have added like 5 new contacts since every business you call ends up being the cell phone of the owner

you have to coordinate for sure, but after i spent 2-3 days figuring it out, its not so bad.
southwest (nashville to nassau) is like $300 if you plan the trip in advance
nassau to long island/stella maris - $206 chartered flight, 45 minutes. however, you are on THEIR time so figure out which days they are flying to the island first, then
- find an airbnb that matches those dates (sat & wed for the pilot we are working with)
- THEN and only then... book the southwest tickets. its key to get to nassau around noon so they can pick you up and take you to long island before dark
- finally choose rental (long island..no pun intended..80 miles..so get a car). we got a citreon convertible (left hand lane!) for $85/day
thats about it. so not that hard to 'get there' but you will need to plan the trip around the flights between nassau and long island so once you have that nailed down, book the resort, the main flight and the car.
from the host:

If you are new to Long Island, or this is your first time to the Bahamas, here are a couple of quick facts . . . 1. Long Island is SAFE.
Being 80 miles long we are a long island with amazing sites and beaches spread from tip to tail. To maximize your experience "Trans" or rental car is advised.
* Cash is king for cars and tours.
Long Island Bahamas is known for its rustic beauty, chill vibe, brilliant coral reefs, pristine flats, and serene beaches, fishing, diving, boating beaching, shelling, world-class and encounters with sea life, caves, famous Dean's Blue Hole, pristine Cape Santa Maria Beach, and Gordon's beaches. Not to mention her warm, friendly, and hardworking locals.
i feel like maybe i shouldn't be so forthcoming
i went to costco travel first and EVERYTHING they had seem to be these massive 40 story hotel juggernauts and that was NOT the vibe we were going for here and quite frankly; more expensive.
eta we LITERALLY rented the citreon on the right in this promo pic from our rental company
