RE9 official thread: Launches 2/27 No Spoilers; info inside about 2 campaigns and gameplay

Just locked in my preorder on ps5.
This game looks insanely good, the amount of enemies and dynamic actions on screen when Leon is fighting in the streets in the state of play trailer is super impressive. Early unofficial reviews from RE insiders say the game is extremely good, but that it does heavily tie into an obscure RE game called outbreak in its story and only does an ok job of filling in what players who aren’t familiar with it need to know, which I guess will be most.
People got to play a 3 hour portion of the game. There’s 2 campaigns with grace playing more like RE2 and RE7 and Leon playing more like he did in 4 remake. It’s not totally clear to me if these are totally separate like Claire and Leon in RE2 or it’s all in one playthrough alternating. I do know and have been told that items used and enemies killed in one will not show up or impact the other though harkening back to the zapping system in OG RE2. Crimson heads from RE1 remake are also back just with a different name I think but are mechanically literally the same, you have to burn them just like in that game or they will return
They’re doing something a little neat with the difficulty as well. Normal or standard difficulty now has 2 settings they describe as modern and classic. I. The classic one all saves require an ink ribbon like the old game and there’s very few auto saves, whereas modern keeps the same difficulty setting but lets you save without ink ribbons and has the auto save systems we save first start in re2 remake. I like this a lot because it means you don’t have to play on hardcore, even though I will be, if you want to have a little bit more difficulty just by managing your saves
Can’t wait

With Requiem meant to more or less reset the series, who do you think the 6 dead raccoon city survivors Leon and Grace are investigating that he references in all the trailers?
Anyone important? Anyone we know but more minor characters? One of nobodies?
For established characters as sad as it is to make me say this since she’s my favorite I think Claire could be the most likely here. Leon caries a new gun and has a watch with an angel motive on it which is tied symbolically to Claire, and in RE4 remake capcom established he carries things like the knife from Marvin and his ghost nine pistol to remember those he lost.
I could also see Carlos from RE3. Outside of that I do think none of the main characters would be involved. I do think it’s extremely likely at least 2 will be some minor characters or Easter eggs like Hunk or something.
Do you think Ada will show up in this game? I believe so, but only in a very minor and short role, and potentially dying

My Amazon pre order says it won’t be delivered until March. Might cancel and pre order from Best Buy or just go to Walmart on the 27th.

Why not just download it digitally? It will preload so you can play it immediately
Is it a preference for physical media thing?

Have a copy on steam. Waiting for preload.
Capcom has been on a mostly positive run since RE7 and I am expecting another good entry.

I got the deluxe edition. Something I really only do for my favorite franchises with RE obviously being among them. My ps5 says it will download it all for the preload 24 hours before unlock

It’s also interesting to me this game began it’s development as an open world multiplayer game before being revamped as the next main line game.
I wonder how much if any of that DNA will make its way over. If I had to guess if any of it does it’ll be the destroyed Racoon city as a large minor open world area

Yes, I like having the disk and I’m too cheap to update my internal SSD. It’s almost full and I’m tired of moving games to my external.

Anyone know when the official review copy embargo lifts?
I know someone who got to play the 3 hour build but don’t know anyone that got a review code

Most of the reviews are for the PlayStation version:
