Has anyone outside the DC area even heard of this? I live within 20 miles of this disaster and might not even know about it if it weren't for X.
When this cold snap is over I'll probably be able to smell it in my neighborhood.

I read a couple of days ago that they had to take two pumps offline at the treatment plant associated with that area due to blockages from "disposable wipes". That caused another backup, but the spill was contained on the premises of the plant.
Friendly reminder: just because the package says "flushable" doesn't mean they are actually flushable. Those things are causing issues everywhere, and when a major problem like this one occurs, they just add to the problems.

Sue the manufacturer for creating an "attractive nuisance" which is the underlying cause of them being flushed.
