Survivor Season 50 Idol Scavenger Hunt (Long)

Are any other Survivor fans taking part in this? The CBS folks have hidden an immunity idol in each of the 50 states and clues to the location will be shared by CBS. If you find the idol location and submit a photo of you with the idol, you are entered into a random drawing of people who found that idol for a free trip to L.A. for two to attend the live Survivor finale. So 50 trips in all. I think the time an idol is “live” for the finding is very limited and usually starts the day after the clue goes out. The contest is being rolled out state by state and several states are already completed.
The first step is to sign up here. You’ll see the map and state by state status and you’ll receive clues via email. The idols seem to be located in populated areas with CBS folks there to assist.
This is an example of the clue for Kansas, Jeff Probst’s birthplace. The first clue has to do with his phrase “Wanna know what you’re playing for?” Each state includes a fuzzy photo that is another clue. This idol was located in a school, thus the lockers.
Texas’ clues go out in less than a week. You can see the photo now though. It looks like a large tree to me. In Texas, that could be a Cottonwood tree and the Alamo was named for the Cottonwoods in the area so my early speculation is the idol will be in San Antonio.
Louisiana’s clues will be shared in a week. The paddle wheel in the photo points to the idol being in N.O., probably the French Quarter along the river.

I was planning on hunting but I’ll be out of town next weekend when the clue drops.

The Louisiana clues have posted. You will need to arrive at the location between 4PM-8PM on Feb 22 to get a photo of yourself with the idol and be entered for the other LA hunters for a chance at the trip to the Survivor finale.
This one is unique because it sounds like you’ll be taken for a riverboat cruise. A former Survivor contestant has been at the other sites (Kristina from Season 49 was in OK) but no idea who will be in N.O. tomorrow. Louisiana and New York are the last two states to do this so maybe they have something big planned. Who knows?

So, Survivor started in 1976? That's interesting. How did I go 50 years without watch this show?
