That was quick.
A board of judges for the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of New York chose Donald T. Kinsella to serve as U.S. attorney for the Northern District of New York.
On Wednesday, Kinsella was sworn in.
Before the end of the day, he was fired by the Trump administration.

I feel like judges picking US Attorneys would be a huuuuuge conflict of interest.

Of course it is. We require civilian oversight of the military but let judges pick their own prosecutors. It makes zero sense.
It's also completely retarded to say the president elected by We the People can appoint prosecutors with consent of the senate OR unelected judges can do it without needing consent like the highest office in the land does. It's completely retarded. Lawyers really know how to screw up a good thing.

It is and that's why the Trump admin firing them the same day is a good idea. Checks and balances.
I am waiting for another judge to try to block the firing.

Ya know it's coming.... those fool judges know they will be overruled, but simply want to slow Trump down as much as possible.
